They're still moving along. For lease signs in the windows, and the lights and walls being installed upstairs.

Thanks for the pics, I didn't even realize these were this far along.

Exciting to think that there will be productive offices in there in just a few months probably, with people spending their lunch hour eating in the park. So happy to see this revitalization in the hammer.

This is awesome- too bad Blanchard has taken the rest of gore park hostage

Innsertnamehere Mar 17, 2023 12:50 PM

Have we heard any updates from Blanchard on his block? Last we heard they were supposed to start construction in "October" but still nothing. Meanwhile the blocks are open to the elements and continuing to rot away..

Blanchard does not build anything! He just spout off cheap promises and drawings.

IE MacNab Square, 20 Jackson Street West.

Took down a 6 storey office building in 2013. Proposed MacNab Square in 2015 to be built in 2016.

And just crickets!

Also checking the latest Google Earth picture of this block, I see that the property that was demolished is paved with parking on it. I thought that you could not take a building down in the core and make it parking. That is why the Royal Bank property on James is just a gravel lot closed off.

To be fair, Hamilton wasn't doing very well compared to today. With the recent condo boom maybe there will be demand for that proposal again.

This portion of the Gore is getting closer to occupancy.

Ugh the black vinyl siding bar across the entrances feels so cheap but maybe some signage will go on top of it..

It'll be nice to see some life on that block again. The South side of Gore park has been such a dead zone for the past 2 decades.

Yeah tell me about it - who heard of someones core being so dead.. It should be the most lively spot in the entire city.

..the most lively.. preserved spot in the entire city *glares at wilson blanchard*

They're responsible for the next block west, aren't they?

Nice to see progress here! And what's going up across the street is sure to change the level of activity and liveliness around Gore Park for the better.

Yes, yes they are, and I am firmly convinced they are sitting on it to let it rot, so they can let it collapse or fall so far into disrepair they can state they have to demolish it to get past the heritage preservation. I don't think they should be able to hold onto it this long.

..all to replace it with some crappy generic build.

The city should at least be taxing the hell out of slum lords who leave their buildings empty

Will be nice to have that entire sidewalk back again. Lots of potential for more nice patios with Gore Park/Veterans Place right out front.
