Hunter is keeping the same service that it has now. James North is expanded service only, they've said.

Under current Lakeshore West scheduling, stations from Aldershot to Union are 6 minutes apart on average. (This spacing seems to carry over to Lakeshore East as well.)

Trains currently take 15 minutes to get from Hamilton GO Centre to Aldershot GO in the morning, 17 minutes to cover the same distance in the evening.

The City of Hamilton has big long-term plans with it:
http://www.hamilton.ca/NR/rdonlyres/...tyHubStudy.pdf
"The James Street North station area has been identified by Metrolinx as one of 51 Mobility Hubs within the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA)...".

Downtown Hamilton and Mohawk/Upper James are also among the GTHA 51.

205 days to Pan Ams.

Fingers crossed they at least have the station completed on time.

Do my eyes deceive me or is that an actual platform roof in the last photo?

SteelTown Mar 17, 2015 9:53 PM

Yep, your seeing a roof.

They'll have the platform done by the Pan Am Games but the building itself won't be completed.

I just hope the public area/park along James St will be completed before the Pan Am Games.

davidcappi Mar 18, 2015 7:37 PM

At the public meeting last year at Liuna Station, they said the pedestrian bridge and platform would be completed, but the plaza/park would not be. I think the whole meeting is on youtube somewhere if you search James North Go Station if you want to hear it.

I'm a little surprised that a start date for regular service hasn't been announced yet. OK actually I'm not really surprised.

There was an article today in the Spec entitled "Pan Am thoughts from 100 days out". I was by the new GO Station yesterday and got out and had a look around. It won't be close to being finished. It would be lucky to be finished by September. They may have a track and platform ready by then but that would be a stretch. They still have not even finished the retaining walls at the west end of the station.

Definitely looking like it'll literally be a track and a platform for the pan am's.

king10 Apr 3, 2015 3:01 PM

Is that part of the station on the left? I was under the impression the station would only be that two story slim rectangular building.
