A handsome revision to a proposal in Kelowna next to the UBC tower:

^ That's actually really cool. I'd almost call it neo-Modernist. It has the uniform grid design seen in many international style buildings, and while it has a decorative facade pattern not typical of Modernism, it's much more subtle than on something like The Grid Condominiums on Jarvis.

Yeah, it's a Grid clone right down to the spandrel design. Another oversized solid podium for Kelowna too. No wonder everyone is excited by Kelowna's skyline as there's nothing these developments are accomplishing at street level.

STANFIELD'S PROJECT, TRURO

Development Agreement Application by Lindsay Construction/Fathom Studios on behalf of Stanfields Ltd to permit Mixed-use/phased development consisting of 523 dwelling units and 55,600 ft2 (5,165 m2) of office/commercial space in 7 buildings, including newly constructed buildings and renovated/repurposed industrial buildings. The proposal also includes approximately 6,350 m2 (68,350 ft2) of publicly accessible space along the Salmon River

What makes this unique is Stanfield's will continue to operate at the site in a new factory accessed via Lorne Street. The existing factory buildings will be reused and built on top up to 11-storeys. 500+ units is massive considering that Truro is Nova Scotia's third largest population centre (45'000 CA / 12'000 town).

3030 St. Joseph Blvd in Orleans, 18 floors on the east end suburb's old main street. It would be the first tower in Orleans outside of Petrie's Landing on the River, along the highway. A little over 500 meters as the crow flies from the nearest O-Train Station (2025).

At the very least it should block any of the CN Tower. that view is iconic and you can't walk by without seeing people taking pictures. What is wrong with this city?

Talk about a downgrade. If I was Henriquez, I'd walk away from this client. As an accomplished architecture firm, do you really want this on your portfolio of completed projects? But I guess we're entering a downturn in proposals and beggars can't be choosers...

Twice the density and only a quarter the fun.

The depth or separation in the subway tile brick motif is the only thing giving me reservations on Henriquez running for the airport never to step foot in Toronto again. I don't think that firm created this.

Good opportunity Dream will have enough with all the other "houses" built and in construction to end up sitting on this for years.

The classic Toronto developer bait-and-switch strikes again.

1071 looks real good and ground has been broken. Toronto will be dropping below 200 under construction for 10 storeys or 35 metres (source: UT Map) for the first time in years.

The first design was much better but I dislike them both. Half of the buildings look great in the Canary District, and half look like City Place buildings. Too bad Saucier + Perrotte wasn't used for the entire area around that park.

Too bad 567 Sheppard won't block the appalling NY Towers, the tackiest buildings in Toronto, if not the country.

Wow! I wonder if there will be an uptick in lower rise as the zoning has changed?
