I know a couple of small business owners in Edmonton area that use CWB for equipment financing, industrial loans etc, and they like them. For national to uproot the goodwill here and move their offices to Calgary, Montreal etc would be a stupid idea.
This would open the door for another new little bank based out of Edmonton. .i mean why not?

Rob McAdam - Director, Safety Codes, Permits and Inspections
The City of Edmonton saw a big jump in building permits in May, setting a recent record in fact, while many large Canadian cities are seeing declines in permit activity due to the affordability crisis. Edmonton is a national leader in efficiently administering the building code and other regulations, which is a major contributor to builder efficiency, and affordability.
Our people are the heart of our success, and are aided by a leading e-services environment, a risk based approach utilizing artificial intelligence, and strong collaboration with our building community.
Affordability is an Edmonton advantage, and we have every intention of continuing to be the best large municipality for those seeking an affordable home.

A maximum tower floor plate of 825 m²; and

Vehicular access to remain from 100 Avenue with an underground parkade that will service both the new and existing tower.

Jasper House Rezoning

Has this been discussed here before? [oh, 5 minutes ago]
From CoE informational email:
https://engaged.edmonton.ca/jasperhouserezoning

Proposed rezoning to accommodate a new residential tower up to 108m on the existing parking lot of Jasper House, southeast corner of Jasper and 121 Street.

Web page includes a links for elevations and fairly detailed design intent. (Someone else can provide related images.)

If the public will still have great views of the artwork on the outside of the old tower, that'd be a great plus.

CWB backed a lot of real estate deals when other lenders (mostly eastern-based) weren't. I certainly hope they maintain that 'western focus' as they have been a good financial partner behind many projects in Alberta.

I like Kevin and wish him the best with this new 'niche business hub and entertainment destination below', but am disappointed given what was on the books before. That said, it's great to see someone local investing in this property and getting the lights back on.

Yup, plus a young and growing population. All good things, unless you are a speculative real estate investor in Edmonton lol. Homes are for living in, not for profiting from.
