Honestly, browsing this thread I have a hard time telling what's BS and what's not. Maybe I'm just dumb.

The fix for the "out of plumb" issue is the construction of a reinforced skywalk attaching the two Comcast towers. It will serve two purposes, to help hold up the new tower and to allow employees access to the new rest rooms.

Seeking an Uber in Philly, Comcast will boost tech start-ups with 'accelerator' in new tower

Quote:

Seeking to boost tech in Philadelphia, Comcast Corp. plans an "accelerator" program for start-ups and entrepreneurs on the fourth floor of its new tower in Center City, the company said Monday.

It's the latest project for Comcast that will face huge hiring needs for the new $1.5-billion tower that will employ thousands of engineers and product developers when it opens in 2018. The company has said it needs a vibrant tech-skilled labor force.

As part of that effort, Comcast has launched a summer-intern program for college students and now will also open up a floor of the new tower for interaction with other small-tech companies.

An outside group, Techstars, will manage "LIFT Labs for Entrepreneurs" and select start-up companies to participate in the 14-week program at the 60-story tower. The group will choose applicants for the program from Philadelphia and globally, Sam Schwartz, chief business development officer at Comcast's cable division, said last week.

If selected from outside the region, the start-ups would relocate to the city to participate in the program, Schwartz added. About a dozen start-ups will be selected initially and the media- and technology-themed program will be a collaboration between Comcast-owned NBCUniversal and Comcast itself.

That's the spirit right there. Love it when companies move to the cities. May the days of boring, commie like office parks be behind us. Glory to the urban transformation.

In terms of tenants, Comcast has done wonders for the skyline of Philly. Likewise for Amazon over in Seattle. Major tenants, demand spectacular towers.

Sorry about the photo size. Steel appears to be above roof line.

Steel Erection Confirmed

"Official":

I can confirm today that building is experiencing steel erection discrepancies. I spoke to somebody (for obvious reasons they will remain anonymous for disclosure reasons) and the steel on the building is causing delays due to abnormalities - the extent of which I am uncertain (erection, superstructure, sizing, plumbness, etc.). It's a vague description but it is confirmation of the aforementioned issue.

Been wondering if the two large units on top of the north side setback (acumenhokie's photo) are part of the cooling system that has been staged there temporarily? nothing like that in the renderings..
Also noticing more of the wire frames for the vertical ribs on the west end.

They bought City Council and Rendell a couple decades ago. Is that close enough?

I've heard now from 3 different people that Comcast III will be supertall; I think this could make way for a lot sizable enough for just that

Plokoon11 Mar 8, 2017 12:07 AM

Another supertall?

You can find 3 people to say just about anything.
