First the light rail/subway proposal passes, and then we get new renderings for a 74-story supertall. Lincoln & Kairoi are the developers. The We Company owned the site at last word.

With Prop A passing, there is no stopping this city now. Project Connect/mass transit seals the deal on this city's growth potential over the next 10-15 years. It's gotta give a lot of developers confidence and I could see them being more bullish/opportunistic. Also takes away a lot of the need for parking podiums.

I had trouble reading the numbers on the elevation. The top one is pretty easy to read - 1,409 feet. Of course, that's the above sea level height. The number at the bottom is more difficult, but I'm a nerd, so I got out my magnifying glass like Inspector Gadget to read it. It's still a little hard to read, but I think the number is 408 feet 3 inches. So, that gives us a height there of 1,000 feet 9 inches. BUT, the height on the elevation is only to the main roof and there is some height above that. I think the highest point of the crown/mechanical roof appears to be around 50 feet above the main roof. So I'm thinking the height is likely close to 1,050 feet.

Just nitpicking here - HAIF listed the overall height at 1,474' MSL. Therefore, this would be closer to 1,066' tall. If so, I believe it would be the tallest building in the U.S. outside of New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco (Salesforce Tower would have only a 4' advantage on this baby).

The developer has confirmed via local blog Towers that 98 Red River/Waller Creek Tower will be a supertall. But the exact height was not given.

What what what? A subway line? Wheres the proposal for this and a supertall? Holy crap.

Pre-Covid, there was a second potential supertall - ATX East Tower. But that one may have caught Covid. There are also two other proposals just over and under 800'
But it's just too soon to get really excited about all these projects until the effects of the Pandemic shake out.

Karlin Real Estate paid north of $100 million (just under $1,500/SF) for that sliver of land where the proposed ATX Towers are to be built. Will either one of them be a supertall? I hope so. However, they will definitely be doing something with that site to gain a return on the cost for said land.

The original source at HAIF of the info about 98 Red River/Waller Creek Tower clarified the building height's at 1,021 feet. So it would be the tallest in Texas.

My only gripe about this building is the top. The shed roof thing looks very...uninspired, so to speak. And very outdated.

Here's another rendering of 98 Red River with a nice view of the project's second tower 99 Red River. The third building is a rendering of Tower 1 in the approved Travis Towers project. Tower 1 ~600' and Tower 2 is ~700'.
