Well first Cuba now DXB/AUH/DOH won't be resuming anytime soon I think? Several injured at DXB, one dead at AUH in the attacks.

Iran can only launch so many missiles. It won’t last long. EK, QR and EY will be flying soon enough.

Hopefully the despots, terrorists and war criminals that have been holding Iran hostage for the past 47 years are on their last legs.

On a separate note, yesterday and on Sunday interestingly AC are using a 788 on one of the YOW-YUL rotations. Last time that happened was probably 2002 when post-9/11 AC temporarily combined the YOW & YUL to LHR flights for a few months. Maybe there’s been the odd other one-offs since line these two roundtrips.

My Brother and his Wife and some friends were two hours away from flying out of DXB but are now stranded. He is hearing explosions quite regularly and hunkering down. At least they have hotel rooms but it will be some time before they get out.

Missed quite a few steps there !

And this is assuming regime change happens. I’m of the opinion it won’t, and I’m not the only one.

While on the one hand I'm hopeful, on the other hand I'm realistic.

Who knows how long airports in the Middle East will be closed.

I think we often forget that Iran has almost 100 000 000 population. So maybe 20M are super angry and ready for regime change but there is a core of middle age and older folks who do not want to see this happen. They supported the revolution in the 70s and prefer modern (I use that term loosely) Iran to the alternatives. Either way, I won't hold my breath with regards to middle east flights and tourism anytime in the next 5-10 years. This is way too chaotic.

I assume the comment in the press release on "showcase beloved Canadian brands, for an elevated in-flight experience" only applies to the menu :lmao: and not the seats.

On a more serious note, happy to see it new aircraft replacing the old. Sounds tight but not as tight as the failed experience WestJet wanted for us.

Was on one of the CRJ-900 for the first time in a long time. Noticed the displays are gone and have a filer panel in their place.

Hello guys, in the coming years, I would like to visit Victoria. I’ll probably take a flight to get there. Is it possible to find direct flights to Victoria, from eastern Canada WITHOUT stopping in Vancouver? Thanks in advance.

Air Canada has non-stop from Toronto and Montreal.
Porter has non-stop from Ottawa and Toronto.
WestJet has non-stop from Calgary and Edmonton. (Depending on time of year they also have a Toronto and Winnipeg flight).

I use Wikipedia and look at the airports to see what airlines are flying to what cities. It doesn’t show how many flights or what times but it gives an idea of what airlines fly to what cities. pretty accurate but sometimes saves the big big search.

And the capacity quickly depolyed to 2nd daily YVR-DEL from Mar 7 to 21.

https://www.aeroroutes.com/eng/260305-acmar26del

Guess the waiting list is long enough that opening a new flight with just 2 days notice is better than leaving the plane on the ground?

Yes & also Flair has several weekly flights ✈️on the Victoria (YYJ)
route from Calgary YYC & Edmonton YEG too.

Or you can also fly nonstop to Vancouver YVR & then take BC Ferries trip over to Victoria as well.

Keeping it to aviation, oil is up 25% this week. Flying is about to get much more expensive and whenever oil spokes airlines get more conservatives with routes and what they are willing to try.

GTAA have announced YYZ's full-year 2025 results (in their typical lousy format): https://www.newswire.ca/news-release...818250810.html

Twelve months ended December 31 (in millions)

Sector / 2025 / 2024 / Chg: # pax / % Chg / vs 2023
DOM: / 17.2 / 16.4 / 0.8 / +4.6% / 16.5
INT'L: / 30.1 / 30.4 / -0.3 / -0.8% / 28.3
Total: / 47.3 / 46.8 / +0.5 / +1.1% / 44.8

Since they annoyingly don't publish transborder numbers, it's safe to assume the -0.8% for international represents a substantial transborder decline and solid international growth.
