Oh man, that's beautiful.

Frost may be a nice building but we already have enough limitations with the CVCs. I'm sure your just kidding about protecting views of Frost. In time there will be taller iconic towers I'm sure.

Oh for sure I was kidding, the only view worth saving is on Congress from its south side. As Austin denses up and we lose the gaps, we're hopefully going to get those taller iconic towers, that is if the developers want to be seen.

Thanks! This is my favorite Austin project!

Won't the view of Frost from a few blocks of E. Sixth be preserved indefinitely? That seems like the most important angle because it makes for a really nice urban backdrop to the pedestrian mobs in the entertainment district, and the contrast between the low historic buildings and Frost is pretty nifty.

Pretty sure the Magellan project or whatever eventually gets built at 5th & Brazos will block the view of Frost from much of Dirty 6th.

The construction webcam was offline for a couple months, but it's back online now. The Hyatt House and Tyndall can be seen in the background.

Thanks for all the pic mopacs.
I'm sure this is going to have a decent impact on the skyline from the east, but it doesn't seem like it will from anywhere else except on Congress right in front of it.

By my count, there are still another 6-7 floors to be added, before this one tops-out. That should help make more of an impact, from afar. Not much can be done from the immediate west or south, as there are taller buildings that will block it from view, but it should be more visible from the northwest, north, east, and southeast, by the time it's completed. My fingers are crossed, anyway...

I have a friend who works at a building nearby and sent me a picture from his phone of that right after it happened. Crazy!

Nice update. The cranes for UT's HQ were originally scheduled to come down this weekend, but I see they are still up.

One of the cranes for 500 West 2nd came down this weekend.

Hey, what's that peeking up just to the right of the W in this skyline shot, from South Lamar?

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/f...DSC_0148_1.jpg

If that's a little hard to see, try this one:

Those images are from the Transformation of South Lamar thread, from member LoneStarMike, by the way.

I have to admit that the blank wall is uglier than I thought it would be...:(

Only three more floors to go.

wwmiv Oct 2, 2016 10:59 PM

This would be so much nicer if the blank wall had that faux-corrugated pattern throughout.
