It's sad because I really like the design he has for it - esp. the yellow and black part in the middle.

I AM LOOKING FOR OTHER PURCHASERS WHO BOUGHT INTO THIS PROJECT Years ago only to now be told by Mr. Stinson will not be honoring my/your contract so he can resell after 5 years.
THIS BEHAVIOR HAS TO STOP! He called me a few weeks ago and said" Your dreaming you would ever get your unit at that price even though I paid fair market value at the time. I have been patiently waiting for years I WANT TO BUILD A UNITED LEGAL FRONT AGAINST HIM. Please contact me David Andrec 647 505 5484 davidandrec@hotmail.com |

‘This will financially destroy me’: Hamilton condo buyer says Knitting Mill delays will cost him his home
https://www.thespec.com/business/rea...ark-lofts.html David Andrec says he is watching in helpless disbelief as his dream of affordable Hamilton condo ownership dies in slow motion at the former Cannon Knitting Mills. It’s an increasingly common condo conundrum for would-be buyers across the Greater Toronto Area disappointed by cancelled projects or refunded deposits. The Hamilton native bought in early as an “enthusiastic supporter” of the long-planned condo project pitched by developer Harry Stinson near Beasley Park. He put down a $60,000 deposit in 2016 for a one-bedroom unit with parking that — at the time — was to cost around $184,000 in total.More than five years later, Andrec said he has been warned the project is unlikely to be completed before his contract expires — and if he wants to buy in later, the same unit could cost three times as much. |
yea, dude got screwed.
He should have done some market research before handing $60k to a known swindler, but still. No way in hell this one is happening. |
Yep, do more homework. It's not a problem that will go away with a cooling market either -- there's still a shortage of tradespeople, material prices remain high, and now there will be fewer people willing to spend enough to make many projects feasible.
I think demographics still favour construction in the region, and local demand from people who will remain priced out of more central Toronto-area real estate. That all could change too if the inflation fight carries on a while. At least the article ended on a humourous note. This is probably the most tenuous project in the city under current economic and financial circumstances, never mind the track record of the person who wants to build it. :haha: Stinson said he has no intention of cancelling his Beasley project, which he still hopes will be done within the next three years. “I’m into this for so much I’ve gotta finish,” he said. |
meanwhile Stinson has yet to make an application to the City of Hamilton for the project, 6 years after launching sales..
|
Not that submitting an application is a guarantee of anything, but it's a practice that regulation should cover especially when a proposed build involves sales.
At least it would make a "vision" more legitimate. Maybe Harry will resurrect his 1000' tower idea, yet again! |

I bought in because of his record. I saw and followed his work in Toronto for years. He always finished projects and they came out really well. Stinson School was latest and thought Beasley was solid. Have to admit hes up against a lot.

Any updates on the Beasley lofts/Cannon knitting mills. Walked by there the other day it's falling apart.
|
I noticed one of the units for sale on Realtor.ca yesterday. I feel bad for anyone who has invested money, time, or hopes in this project (except Harry!). Positive outcome looking less and less likely with each passing month.
|
If only someone else had acquired it.
|
I remember visiting this site on a school trip - and yeah.. looots need to be done inside due to its history.. I think he bit off more than he could chew.
|
Stinson up to something here yet again..

Keeping his options open.
Hey, Harry... how about finishing a project (like the Gibson school condos, in this thread that goes back to spring 2014) before launching another one? |
