If I'm a developer who's buying up property along the proposed LRT route, I'm mentioning LRT in every press release, criticising the obstructionists, generally talking up the benefits of LRT and the increased tax base from development at every opportunity.

thought the same thing! one cannot be claustrophobic. On the upside, cleaning is done in record time and too small to keep a mound of items (no need to get a Costco membership!)

LOL 450sf, thats about the size of my rec room. Maybe I can convert my place to condo's and more than quadruple the value. Who spends 300k on a condo that small, especially when you could still buy a small house in this city for that price. There are larger condo's in this city priced lower than that, listed right now.

Huge spaces aren't a priority for everyone. I have several professional friends who have fab apartments less than 600 sq feet

I've been living in space like that for a long time now. It's convenient to GO service for my commute, while keeping me in the area for connections with friends, family, Ti-Cat games, etc.

While it would feel nice to have more space, living by myself I would not really use much more living room on a regular basis. A bigger kitchen is the thing I miss most, and more storage is #2 (though I'd likely fill it with crap I never use or even look at).

To each their own, and I'm sure that if I want to live with someone again that will change my space needs, but there are lots of people for whom this kind of living is more than adequate.

A few years ago I figured I'd eventually move into a house, but odds are higher now that I might invest in a condo instead.

The fixtures store moved out the first week of april to a location in burlington. Perhaps we see some action now.

Dare I say I don't hate it...? If it's executed better than the Claridge/Andaz building in the Byward market of Ottawa, then it'll be a tiny victory for the Hammer.

Agree but the developer is not having good luck with the City on his other (very reasonable project, Harbour Condos) and I can't blame him for taking his time on this as such. It can't be reassuring for an investor to be denied 11 storeys next to a GO station, certainly questions how willing we (or City Hall) are to accept development.

I have not agreed with all tall buildings in the city as proposed. King and Queen for example I hate regardless of height because the design we've seen does not interact with the street at all.

But this 11 storey denial is the most insane thing I have ever witnessed. Multiple developments denied side by side immediately beside a deserted Go station. All the while the city is yelling at the province for not giving us enough Go service.

Yeah we really need the province to override the city right beside GO stations (and LRT stops).

Since Harbour condos have now been approved at LPAT, have there been any developments towards moving this project forward?
