The previous hearing regarding the parking lot got postponed from July 11 to August 15. Now it's set to be approved at this Thursday's hearing. Here's the planning PDF.

They are asking for the surface parking lot to be approved for an additional two years (the maximum possible).

It also offers some details on what Crescent Heights is planning for the site:

No new renderings, but Crescent Heights has the project up on their site now and it says:

Revisions just submitted on 1/20/16. Two concepts: one all residential, the other residential and hotel. Residential/hotel is 535' to structural top, all residential is 525'.

Didn't know this was going to be so tall, title says 23 floors so I assumed it would be about 250' which is a yawner, 535' is quite impressive, would be as tall as ORH 2. This is one of my favorites and have been patiently waiting for this to get built. It's gonna look awesome from Transbay Terminal Park

Intriguing. I still can't help but wonder what will happen if this building is filled with wealthy NIMBYs, and plans for Parcel F are developed to tower over its west side...

^ yeah, we should be doing a rain dance for hotel and rental over condo with this one.

A couple points of interest from the linked document:

The lot is zoned for 450' in height but they are asking for an extra 10% height increase in the upper tower per § 263.9. That brings the roof height to 495' and well over 500' with the mechanical screening
The all-residential option is 48 stories, while the hotel option has 45 floors
Both options have a pedestrian bridge to the transit center
In addition to the ground-floor retail frontage on Howard St, there's a retail spot on the same floor as the pedestrian bridge

Speaking of skinny project sites, the plans for a 48-story, residential tower rising up to 515 feet in height at 524 Howard Street have been newly rendered, granted an exemption from having to complete a detailed environmental impact report, and are slated to be approved by San Francisco’s Planning Commission tomorrow afternoon.

As designed by Handel Architects for Crescent Heights, the proposed Transbay District tower would include 334 condos over stacked parking for 167 cars and 3,900 square feet of retail space, of which 1,150 square feet would front Howard Street on the ground floor.

The remaining retail space would be located on the seventh floor, connected to the future Transbay Park via a pedestrian bridge over Natoma Street as envisioned, as would be the proposed tower to rise up to 806 feet in height at 546 Howard Street upon Transbay Parcel F.

First approved for development over 25 years ago, Crescent Heights has been touting “Coming Soon” with respect to their plans for the 524 Howard Street tower since 2013 and recently secured approval the existing parking lot on the site to operate for up to another two years.

Keep in mind that Crescent Heights is also seeking approval for a possible variant to project as proposed, which would yield 72 condos over a 273-room hotel and parking for 54 cars on the 524 Howard Street site, depending upon how the market and timing plays out.

And with respect to the foundation upon which the tower would be built, the project team is currently proposing the use of “pre-drilled and press-in piles, drilled and cast-in-place piers, or rectangular-profile load bearing elements” rather than impact-driven piles down to the bedrock below.

I like the thin structure and cant wait to see the park in person!

Looks great! Love the connection btwn the Transbay Park and retail on the 7th floor.

Are there any plans to raze 530 and 540 Howard for another tower? Would be cool to have a canyon wall rise up on that side of the park, since it's not possible on the other side thanks to the squat Foundry Square.
