it is an all-time favorite, just behind "ah... the first five seconds before you remember why you're sleeping on the lawn."

Not to get too off topic, but seasons 2-6 of the Simpsons contain some of the best comedic writing in the history of television.

I had to re-watch this twice when it first aired.

I agree. It's already happened to some degree. That alcohol line is a perfect example.

I know it's supposed to be out of style and gone now, but I still love black polka dot skirts with red shoes. It's one of my favourite looks and I'm so glad it's lingering.

Tibb's Eve is December 23. My father is from the Burin Peninsula so we always celebrated it, despite the Wikipedia description. And it's become quite popular in St. John's over the past several years due to official promotions by bars.

The word "tibb" is archaic slang for a sexually promiscuous woman. In 17th century English plays Tibb was a common character of a loose-moraled woman used for comic relief. Referring to Saint Tibb was a joke that would go over the head of children who believed her to be a real saint. Similarly, Tibb's Eve was a "non-time" like "the twelfth of never" or "when two Mondays fall together." Over time the name has evolved with some people referring to it as Tipp's Eve or Tipsy Eve—the latter being tied to the holiday's association with drinking.

The main point Wikipedia misses is that it's for your friends, not your family. It's the big time with your buddies before you have to be all civilized with relatives. Kids and parents often even ensure they don't end up at the same bars.
