Da! |
Question now remains if the ECC project comes online during this cycle or will wait it out until the next?!?
Man, I hope this is an "epic" project. One in which will place the Austin skyline on the international map. |
Happy (?) May Day, everyone. :lynchmob:

Interesting tidbit...May Day though goes beyond and much farther back than workers and is the ancient holiday that celebrates the end of Winter (especially in northern and mountainous regions in Europe), return of Spring and the rebirth of life. It's no coincidence that the most holy Christian holiday Easter is celebrated this time of year and indeed the very name is taken from the Pagan Goddess Eastre also known as Eostre.
I am also very curious about the ECC tower design. I really hope that it is a tall tower. |
Couldn't see that anyone posted this yet, so figured I'd jump in:
http://www.bizjournals.com/austin/ne...er-towers.html Looks like good news!! The taller, the narrower, the better IMO. |

This was only a resolution to pursue the idea. There can still vote against it later.

First post...
Hey everyone,
Thought I'd start off with a panorama I took back on May 1st, of Downtown from the Long Center. https://www.flickr.com/photos/108372...7/14082180175/ Glad to finally be a registered member here! Andrew |

Looks like a hospital to me, or maybe because it has similar elements with the medical school hospital.

Why is it that everything in that area, sort of a second down-town, is all between four and eight floors? Is there a hight restriction there? |

In think with Austin there are a lot of zoning issues and neighborhood groups that get all in a tizzy when anything above 4-5 stories is proposed. A 12 story condo was supposed to be built near my neighborhood several years back and there was this huge outcry from local groups. |
I would hate to have highrises built outside of the core. That's urban blight. I'd prefer to continue to have midrises built in the Domain until a critical mass is reached, then we can go a bit higher.

I agree. One of the things I love about Austin is that in spite of how rapidly the city is growing, so much of the new development remains pleasantly human-scaled... And y'all still have a spectacular developing skyline to brag about.
I think I've said it before on this site, but tall buildings do not a city make. This is one of the reasons why China and Dubai do not impress me as they do some. |
