So how tall do we think it will be? 300'-350' |

If built...it will most likely be in the 330' to 360' range (or roughly an average of 10'-11' per occupied level).

That skyline is looking very solid.

Now the skyline just needs some depth to it instead of just a line of buildings by the lake.

At first, I was like "aw, this is weird, I don't like it" due to the awkward winding shape of it and the angle that it comes out of Sandra Muraida Way (why not come out at the middle instead all the way to the right like that?), but as I went on, I started to like it more and more. For one thing, the stairway up to the street at the corner of 3rd and Seaholm Dr. is going to go a long way toward establishing real connectivity. Secondly, the funky design they're going to put in the pathway (with three different types of concrete) is really cool: http://i.imgur.com/Xnc4utB.jpg Third, they're going to be using a lot of cool decorative elements like these granite bat designs in (on?) the walls... http://i.imgur.com/yZsvfHR.jpg ...and concrete blocks with guitar designs on them, and fence paneling that looks like piano keys: http://i.imgur.com/7AnTDoi.jpg On top of that, I think the excavating and landscaping will look really good (in about 10 years when the trees are fully grown). Maybe the whole thing is corny but I'm a sucker for cheesy Austin-themed crap like this. We have certain themes we identify with Austin, so we might as well accentuate them. |
Major League Soccer and urban rail take Austin by storm
By Michael King, Fri., March 28, 2014
Austin Chronicle From an embargoed press release, dated April 1, the Chronicle has learned that the city of Austin is about to announce the construction of a new soccer stadium in the middle of the Colorado River – a project which will also provide the missing link in a new urban rail line serving the entire Central Texas area. http://www.austinchronicle.com/news/...-soccer-train/ |

Check out the gap the Colorado Tower will fill. Green Water (4 towers) and the Seaholm Residences will just re-enforce what's already there. 99 Trinity Tower and Waller Park Place (3 towers) will show up here. https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.n...91426571_o.jpg Austin American-Statesman - https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater |
Nice picture Kevin! Our skyline is going to look fabulous once all these major project get complete. Also it's going to be interesting to see the Block 1 tower as I and another forumer on here call it "The Waterfall Tower" will be blocking The Spring here in a few years.

I just gotta say that isn't my photo. I wish I could take credit for it, because it's really good and that is one sweet view. I'm guessing it was taken from Austin Skyhouse.

Fairmont Signs
I was driving north on 35 this morning and got only a quick look, but it appears some big signs have been placed on the Fairmont site announcing the hotel. Then again, my vision isn't what it once was.

This says they're planning to break ground in December on the Aloft hotel in downtown.
