Miami from Hialeah somewhere (too bad the glare cuts out the skyline running up the coast on the left):

I think that's a rare advantage due to the exceptional weather and prefect atmospheric weather phenomenon. Perhaps on a boat. looks too far from Michigan or Even parts further close from Indiana. Phehaps from an elevation. I have seen many reverse images from further away pics but nothing so clear.

I cant figure out how wanda is north of Trump Tower. Id like longitude where that was taken. Looks like a south east pic looking north west. Indiana?

^ Photographer probably used an ND filter to smooth out the water and had the shutter wide open for a while.

The Chicago ones really give you an idea the curvature of the earth. Also, the buildings are (ever so slightly) 'leaning away' from the photographer.

The arrangement of the buildings looks very close to the angle one gets from the main beach at Indiana Dunes State Park.

that's a distance of ~33 miles over the water.

^^^ I wonder why it particularly looks like that in SF. It got very close to that in the IE on Monday but it will still just white and foggy. Is it just the fire smoke mixing with the regular fog?

On TV they are saying it was a layered effect with smoke high in the atmosphere filtering out light on the blue end of the spectrum and then below there was fog doing what fog does. So the net result was red fog.

The red coloration really was from exactly the same phenomenon as on Mars except on Mars the particulates in the atmosphere are dust and here it was ash.

Pics by me. Taken yesterday. More pics in the flickr, but I don't want to make them too large because some folks bitch about size lol. Get a bigger resolution screen!

Lower Manhattan...

Jersey City blends into it. Also, look carefully, but portions of DoBro.

Interesting. The fire smoke did seem to be high up in the atmosphere on the zoom earth website.
