Again, the scale of this project is far greater than I could have imagined...

This photo depicts the length of the parking lot from MacNab to Bay St. viewing in it the other building of access, which I understand is also complete.

The new station is super cool, definitely a fan of the design. One part that I love is the amount of landscaping and plantings they've done. You can't really tell by the photos, but it makes a huge difference in person. The new plantings will take a few years to fill in, but I was really impressed with the volume of new plants going in around the buildings.

Dr Awesomesauce Sep 27, 2016 10:59 PM

That project really blossomed. ;)

Hope it can get more use in both directions. Especially when Stoney Creek and the Niagara trains pic up.

Just needs people.

Nice one.

Any trains coming in yet or is it just a pretty building? ;)

ScreamingViking May 6, 2017 2:47 AM

Both sets of tracks are laid.

Chronamut May 6, 2017 1:25 PM

it will look nice once those trees mature :)

Big trees make all the difference with architecture.

Wow, that area of town is starting to look great! I am guessing it's only a matter of time before more development happens around here, including retail, and more residential low-midrise buildings...

The station's greenery is maturing nicely. Too bad its still completely dead 80% of the week. Even still, I think the thread title can be changed to Completed now.

I spotted tons of wild red clover, thistle & baby milkweed. I think they might have seeded this with some kind of meadow mix, so I can only expect this slope to become more dramatic as the year goes on. Meadow mixes take 1-3 years to really show any growth.

I'm happy they went for a more naturalistic, native species approach with the landscaping for this station. It really is starting to look great.

considering the condos which will house all the people to take the GO are still being built.. I think it's good it's dead 80% of the time - it means it won't be overcrowded when the density finally DOES move in.

Also it's understandable - this go station is still way down there while there is another go station higher up in the denser part of the city.

Until the Confederation station at Centennial Pkwy is built and service is extended into Niagara Region (years away yet: 2019 completion of Confederation, service by 2021 to Grimsby and 2023 to the Falls) this one is likely to remain quiet. Though I do hope they start making a stop there during the seasonal weekend service.

Under the RER plan announced in April 2015, to be completed over 10 years, West Harbour is to get 1/2 hour peak direction service during the morning and afternoon commuting periods.

From a January article in Urban Toronto.ca: "The new tracks, coupled with reconfiguration of the Bayview Junction—which Metrolinx CEO Bruce McCuaig once called "the most complex corner of railway infrastructure in Canada"—will enable more frequent GO Train service into Hamilton. It will remove many of the conflicts currently experienced between CN freight (and to a certain extent CP freight) and GO service that exists between Aldershot station and Hamilton."

This is a good article with timelines.

Also, Donna Skelly indicted on the Bill Kelly show that the Feds have come to the table with funding for the Bayview Junction realignment.
