It's a neat little spot. We don't have much of these stairs surrounded by old rowhouses type of places that you have in Quebec City and St Johns.

That's a great picture. I was snowshoeing on Grouse Mountain yesterday. There was 60km/h wind gusts on top of the mountain but once you got into the trees, it was a pleasant day.

Love the quoted MTL picture. Reminds me of all the little staircase lanes here, the houses are even painted brightly - same basic idea, but MTL's is nicer and stone. :D I wish we had that meaty feeling too, where you look at that and just know there's city all around you, unlike here, where you know, okay, another half block and I'm in clapboard rowhouses. I think most people can just sense when it's the end, and when it's the beginning. And I wish we had some parts that felt a beginning like that MTL pic. :(

I'm a commuter to Toronto from a far-flung burgh, and as a commuter I tend to forget about all there is to appreciate about the city I commute to, at least during the daily grind in and out. But when I visit as a non-commuter, those images represent exactly the kinds of things I appreciate about Toronto. |
I do like the overhead wires, but the actual tracks always seem like a tripping hazard (or slipping hazard in winter/rainy days). Another reason to prefer buses. ;-)

Peace River has a very nice ski hill for a ski hill in the prairies. It looks like the Peace River valley is almost twice as deep as the North Saskatchewan River valley in Edmonton is.
