Also Hotel Van Zandt and Westin are supposed to break ground soon, and if we're really lucky the Fairmont as well. Shoal Creek Walk is a possibility as well.

I had some time on Memorial day, so I collected together some of the under construction, about to break ground and at least one "hoped for" [Fairmont], new buildings for Austin. Would love to still add a good rendering for each of the following: 7Rio, The Westin (on 5th, right?) and The Catherine.

I would include the Seaholm tower in that and that rendering for Skyhouse is actually slightly different from the one that's being built.

The Fairmont is going to be 691 feet to the spire and 572 feet to the roof. I think you got that height mixed up with 3Eleven Bowie which will be 423 feet. Also the Fairmont will have 47 floors, not 50.

Thanks. I see Skyhouse hast that rounded top now, less ornate than the other design.

Kotliz May 29, 2013 7:13 PM

Thanks for the correction on the Fairmont. I'll post an updated image in a day or two. What's with 47 floors? Pity they can't round it up.

Thanks for the sweet image! It really helps an out of towner visualize all that's going on.

Found some more renderings of the Seaholm retail buildings. It really helps you get a better idea of what it's going to look like.

I'm not sure that it ever was 50 floors. I think there are two additional mechanical floors, for a total of 49. And after that I think the media was just rounding it up.

Typically mechanical levels are not counted in the floor count. The Frost Bank Tower for example has two mechanical levels inside the crown. So it technically has 35 floors instead of 33, but no one occupies those levels on a daily basis, nor are they accessible to the public/tenants.

Great job, Kotliz! I had wanted to do something similar, but your skills are much better than mine.

Jeez, Seaholm is gonna be the shiiiiiiiiiiz :cheers: I just hope they can announce more retail soon. WeWork has been confirmed as the power plant tenant...which is awesome.

Anyone have any idea why they're working on this section of the rail bridge?

I believe it's because of debris falling from the bridge above. They had Seaholm Dr closed because of it. This is progress. I also heard the art wall will be complete fall 2014.

Austin Planetarium tower is now cancelled right? That's a shame, that tower literally looked similar to a Dell desktop computer and would've been a perfect fit in Austin's skyline.

Unfortunately the T. Stacy tower on Congress is also dead.

However, how about this? http://media.cmgdigital.com/shared/l...oup_050213.jpg

I think it should be added to the proposed list.
