Thanks for the comments! I'll probably continue with Bourne for now. I want to see more of it, but I'm not putting any pressure on myself to ever "finish" it. We'll see how big it gets before I get bored of it or my computer can't handle it no more.

Roof textures are from Google Maps, which, I guess, uses the same satellite imagery as Google Earth. Facade textures are mostly from Bing Maps birds eye views.

Before I complete re-texturing, here's a street level scene:
Looking west on West Van Buren Avenue. The avenue's western end is framed with tall residential buildings: on the left the Park Plaza Apartments and on the right the Imperial.
This part of Bourne is a very popular place to live. It's relatively peaceful compared to the fact that it is within a walking distance of downtown. It also has a lot of green space: the Lakeside Park is just to the west and the western end of Van Buren Avenue is a wide boulevard with a small park in its median.

Did you put a Photoshop filter over that image, I like the effect. The level of detail on the model is also very high I see, with road signs, traffic lights etc.

Your city looks real, and that is a fact, that must have been a pain to make every blade of grass, although I'm sure it could be a texture, because sketchup doesn't like high poly models, it uses much more RAM than it should.

Beautiful shot, so much subtle detail, your trees are so realistic I'm practically green with envy!

Yes. That shot received quite a bit of post-pro. I tried to make it look more like a drawing rather than a photo to hide some low-res textures and low poly models. I like the result and this might be the way I will present street level scenes in the future as well.

The grass was actually added in the rendering software. I use Kerkythea and its Instancing Brush has proved itself very useful.

The trees are actually very low poly, but they look quite convincing from a distance and when the light comes behind them. The trees closest to the camera where added in Kerkythea and are more complex models.

The second section is now fully re-textured. Here's a view looking northwest:

Beautiful textures! I prefer the blue roofs over the grey ones :) I love those little townhouses by the way!

I would love to see some shots around the Van Alen Center or by the freeway interchange! Bourne's layout is very well done, I will be looking at your park for inspiration when I start on Staunton's park!

Bourne really came out great! That first render looks good enough to eat and agree with Patrick beautiful roof top textures in particular (I prefer the light coloured ones to grey and blue!)....So whats next on the to do list???

Great views, wonderful waterfont locale. My fav building in that last shot is probably the 1970's era black box - Heritage Insurance Building. I'm a sucker for international style architecture. Oh and what is that building with the angled roof and rectangular cutout? I'm assuming that must be the tallest in Bourne, but can't see any info about it.

Thanks, Pingyao! I'm a sucker for international style as well. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is probably my favorite architect, so I guess everyone of my cities has had a building heavily inspired by his designs.

The building with the angled roof is the WrightWellington Tower, the tallest building in Bourne. It's on the third section, so it hasn't been "officially presented" yet. I will focus on it on my next update.
