That's a Ruxton. Front wheel drive and also a make that used the unusual "Woodlite" headlights. Who's the gal? Hmmm...somewhere on the thread I think we might have seen this pic--the "45th St" and what appears to be "1st Ave" signs look familiar. Looks like a movie lot. |

Interesting in that the building started out as a Durant dealership--a mighty ambitious project for a small car company that had just had a two-year suspension of sales. [QUOTE=Godzilla;6512596]Thanks. The video is a reminder of the delicate balance of grandure coexisting with quaintness that can never be recaptured. Easily recognized landmarks and a relatively uncluttered skyline.

Granville/Voltaire apartments
It would make sense that Norma Talmadge would have something to do with the Granville Apts as the Norman design is similar to her late '20's beach house on Santa Monica Beach near the pier (still standing). Also home for a while to Gary Cooper and "housemate" Randolph Scott in the early '30's.
Still can't find where to put my link. http://wikimapia.org/12533079/Palisa.../photo/2510297 |
