It hadn't really dawned on me that the "North Scottsdale" area which has its largest buildings in North Phoenix is starting to suppose the Valley's newest skyline from Mayo on 56th St to Cavasson on Hayden surrounding 101.
Probably a long shot, but I'd be curious to see if any of that was visible from, eg, the mountain preserve that Scottsdale bought up. |
I was going through my old Flickr and found this trip down memory lane:

I’d imagine most of the area along the 101 will see mid-rise buildings with occasional high rise depending on the project as we move along. With a lot of the mid rises going up as it is - there’s a bit of a ‘canyon’ I can see forming. With the new Axon HQ going up soon it’ll start to get interesting. As far as I can tell - you can’t see any of this from the Scottsdale Preserve. But you can see most of it from the ‘high rent district’ of Silverleaf and DC Ranch - ‘city lights’ is a big selling point for most of these multi-million dollar mansions along the McDowells. |

These are all things that, one way or another, will have to be built some day anyway whether that area is developed with housing, commercial, industrial, doesn't matter. I say it's a no brainer to create that many jobs.

The bigger site's zoning doc on 303 and 17 is here:
https://www.phoenix.gov/pddsite/Docu...PZ/Z-37-20.pdf https://www.phoenix.gov/pdd/i-17-and-carefree-highway The other one for the 450 acre supplier sites closer to deer valley airport are here: https://www.phoenix.gov/pddsite/Docu...Z/Z-57-20n.pdf The meeting agenda is here on page 89 where they talk about the development agreement: https://www.phoenix.gov/cityclerksit...0-%20Final.pdf Contrary to the article, the meeting says they haven't picked an exact site yet. I would wager it's at the airport and not the sprawling business park. Also, the 450-acre "supplier sites" are not part of the 3,500 acres. |

Just a bit north... |
Drove through Downtown today and instead of being in awe of the construction (which I should have been because there's tons) I couldn't believe how much litter & how many homeless tents there were. Not trying to sound inconsiderate as I wish they would build much nicer shelters for those people, but it was bad.
Seemed like a combination of construction workers trashing the streets and covid leaving the streets emptier than usual - near Roosevelt especially. Is there anyone that I can reach out to? I don't want Phoenix turning into Los Angeles  |

I think this is a good idea and it gets them further away from the city core. |
