How tall will phase 6 be ?
According to the model, it looks taller than Sorrento.

DO they really need the glass bubble? It seems likie an unnecessary waste to me. I'd rather have open sky above me than a bubble that's not even completely enclosed. It seems like it will get really hot in there in the summer.

Yep, I definately liked the crystal version better than this box-like shape with some sort of hollow wall structure at the top. It just stinks to build a supertall box these days, when we have the technology to make something awesome. Why do the really nice proposals always have to get changed or cancelled!? Argh.

I think the exterior will be finished by mid- to late-2007. In any case, I can't wait
Hopefully the developers will pack some more nice surprises or goodies into the building, but I'll be fine with just what's already expected of the building. Union Square has a monstrous presence from ground level...even the Harbourside and Sorrento alone are freakin' massive. It gets me every single time I pass by. And it gets my parents, too, which is a cool bonus :D

Yes. Planned to finish means nothing. If we actually knew for a fact it would finish that fast then you can make a comparison. It's pretty obvious whoever thinks they will build a possibly +2,000 foot tower in 2 years is on something, that's for sure...

What exactly is the mezzanine 102? Will it be a habitable floor for people? I understand that floor 102 or 108 off the street will be a restaurant. If mezzanine 102 is 451 m, then that surpasses CN Tower's Space Deck at 447m, which is higher than floor 102 of US7 which, as you stated, 445m.

Fabb
Mar 28, 2004, 7:58 AM

The Harbourside is already a welcome departure from your typical Hong Kong get-grimy-in-a-few-years concrete apartment building. The Sorrento also looks like it'll hold up fairly well, but the Waterfront (the first to be completed), I don't know. Hong Kong does need some other materials for building exteriors. How about plastic, so all the buildings turn black with soot within a week? :D

Thanks Aboveday

Is that 451m height an official height?

I guess then CNs reign as highest habitable floor will come to an end. I have been on the CN Tower many times and will be going on it in September. The restaurant of US7 will have a great view looking DOWN on 2IFC.

Too bad they are making the observatory no higher than floor 90. If one day I visit HK, I would make sure I have a reservation on the restaurant to view things from the very top. The main restaurant floor will be 2m higher than the roof of Sears Tower. And the restaurant mezzanine will be 3m higher than the roof of Taipei 101.

This will be a most exciting building.

How high will US7 be with nine more floors?

Do your math and get an approximate height.

IF assuming the nine added floors are of equal height as the original floors and the top fins stay the same off the main roofline, then a cross multiplication and division will give you the answer.

With the above assumption holding true, (things at the top could be modified), the new height of US7 would be approximately 515.8m or 1691 ft.

Lotta fun, lotta fun.

Maybe they just decrease the floor celling height to increase more floor...

It shouldn't be 99 floors, I thought they have same number floors i.e. 30, 30a, 30b, to make up for lost floors?

According to the initial elevation, there are 103 floors on the tower, and 5-6 floors inside the podium.

111 stories mean 99 floors in HK

:???:

Could you please explain this :???:

Easy. You should remove the floors #4, 14, 24... as well as 13 and possibly 40.

Why would someone remove the floors #4,14,24,13 or 40...that's BS.

some newspaper said the height will stay the same. They also said the GFA will stay the same. The-sun news and the propertystreet.net (the one that willie showed us).

the only scenario that i can think of is:
I assume that the GFA can really stay the same. I believe the only way to archieve that is to make an extension of atirum for the hotel section. They got approved to switch large amount of office gfa to hotel gfa sometime ago. But i guess the switched gfa were full floors (no atrium). They can make these full floor to become part of the atrium and move those extra gfa gained from the atrium to put up 9 more floors.
Since the floor-to-floor height for office are much higher than hotel's (typical of 4.5 vs 3m), they can use these difference to pack more floors in and keep the height to stay the same.

btw, i believe 111 floors are not including the floors in podium. According to skyscrapers.com standard, US7 has 117 floors. (6 floors in podium)

111 floors are actually floors i believe. I think a lot of people here already saw the elevation plan of the US7 from the new KPF book. You can count that it has 102 floor above podium and 6 floors at podium (108 above ground floors in total).

yeah i think those a,b,c floors compensate those missing floors ...
the final floor count should be 111floors(tower)&6floors(podium)
will there be an increase in overall height or ceiling height???

I'm finding this a little hard to beleive, IMO the higher a building gets the more chance there is of a "scale-down":(

The old gfa of US7 is 246500m2but some newspaper said that the new gfa is 290000m2...some newspaper said gfa didnt change, some said it did change........................

If it's really a 111-story building, then it might be another "lesson" to the developers of the new WTC.

They could add one more floor to 118-story,a luck number for chinese...

I'm sure some height increas will happen as a result of an extra nine floors. Original height was 1555 ft ech. With the extra added floors it suggests 1675 ft but if they shorten the floor ratio, the maybe 1600 ft will be surpassed.

This is why perhaps technical information is slow. They were changing the plan again. Hopefully they got it solved and get the building rising above ground soon.

With 117 floors, that is nothing to laugh at. Maybe that extra floor for that lucky number 8 will happen Aboveday.

I also like the design a lot.
