Post unique, weird, or otherwise misunderstood road signs here.

No right hand turns on red lights on the Island of Montreal

(LTR, Top then bottom row): playing hockey in a very small room, a room with some books, presumably culture spot, stinky farmer with overalls selling fruits/beggies, church (yay!), flooded basement with extraction ladder, pound of flesh, your trailor-hitched boat has detached and is heading for the lake.

There is a similar sign on the TCH at the Tantramar Marsh here in southeastern NB (sans the snowflakes). It shows a huffing God-like figure (as above) blowing an 18 wheeler off the road, with a couple of flashing lights that are activated when the winds are particularly high.

I've always been fascinated by the Risque du Brouillard Quand le Feu Clignotent roadsigns in Quebec.

Most Quebec roadsigns are pretty self evident because of vocabulary overlap between English and French, but "brouillard" has no English correlate. I always feel sorry for any American confronted with these large yellow cautionary signs with flashing light on a Quebec autoroute. I can see them freaking out, not knowing that brouillard simply means "fog." :)

I think that just occasionally, and simply for purposes of clarity, it might not hurt the Quebec government to make just a few roadsigns bilingual, if for no other reason than simply for safety purposes...........

From the horror stories I've heard motorists get killed quite often hitting moose due to the animal's high centre of gravity causing the weight of its body and antlers to fall directly onto the cab of the vehicle.

They seemed pretty outdated when I was a kid in the 80s, sort of a relic of the 60s. Still kind of a neat thing to see. Apparently the province got rid of Orbits when people abused them by throwing more than just random wrappers and food containers in them and started putting bulk waste in them.

People are so willing to go out of their way to dump bulk trash in places it should never go. Never made sense to me. Cities do pickups... FOR FREE... just have to call or email. And if you have a lot of stuff, is it not worth the $10 or whatever to take it to the dump, rather than find some far flung but accessible place you've spent a tank of gas to get to and risk the police driving by while you dump your load? Heck, there are people who drive around that will pick up random crap if left out right by the sidewalk.

There's been a dishwasher sitting near the train tracks between Burlington and Oakville for years. Someone accessed a dirt track off a service road for a fuel terminal. My absolute favourite sign in St. John's ever, of all time, has been Dr. Bartellas (GYNECOLOGIST, of all things) with his handpainted sign, and entrance in a garbage-filled alley behind a strip mall.

Was going through some old photos and found an assortment of funny signs I've spotted over the years.

I get that this denotes a bike lane, but why is there an arrow and a diamond? I think it's supposed to warn anyone turning right on the next street but I can see it being confusing for drivers.

hilarious. Old Dirty Bird (KFC) was too cheap to take down the bucket sign, just removing the bucket ring.

the KFC/Taco-Hell combo restaurant near my house is the grottiest, filthiest fast food restaurant in the entire city and is populated by the most unhealthy looking people (a la people of Walmart...appropriate given the nearness of a Walmart Stupidstore). Now that Popeye's is all over London, there is no reason to ever visit a KFC.

I haven't seen an image of Bonhomme in a long time.

Looks creepy now that I'm in my middling years. How many nightmares were inspired by it?

Was Harper trying to replicate the elder Trudeau? Or kick Bonhomme in the groin, and missed high? lol

We've gone WAY BEYOND road signs. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
