This used to be the old Police and Fire Stations, it is now a floral shop. It still has the hay lofts for the old horse drawn fire engines, brass pole and many pieces of antique police and fire equipment

I had to put a pause to photographing for a while on one of my days of shooting to help extinguish a small kitchen fire, literally outside our station doors, these were taken after the fire was out, obviously:rolleyes:

the Redneck and Fatboy signs are hilarious

it's amazing how hilly Metro Shenango is... and then it gets dramatically flatter once you cross the Ohio line towards Brookfield/Hubbard/Girard/Y-town

nice gritty look at a special place ;)

I couldn't agree more

this is an awesome pic... looks like a very family-friendly community!

It is, there's always people out walking, jogging and riding their bikes

this is disturbing

Indeed, but then again this is just about the halfway point between Pittsburgh and Cleveland.

Redneck boy and the pitbull scared me, thus the blurriness, as I snapped it as I was still walking:haha: I know Fatboy, the sign is actually cause he has 4 Harley Davidson motorcycles, and he's actually pretty skinny:haha:

The geography of this area does dramatically change in just a very short drive to the west, or even just to the north a bit as well. And thanks:cheers:

Buhl Park and South End. Buhl Park is a Legacy left by F.H. Buhl, a steel magnate who was in cahoots with Carnegie, Mellon, and the bunch. Three municipalities all own a piece of Buhl Park, the Cities of Hermitage and Sharon, and the Borough of Sharpsville. And it is believed to be the home of one of two free golf courses in the world, the only in the U.S. It spans 300 acres with an 11 acre man made lake.

Heater, gasoline ignite blaze, destroying Sharpsville garage, motorcycles

By Courtney L. Anderson
Herald Staff Writer

SHARPSVILLE —

Spilled gasoline and a kerosene heater sparked a fire Saturday night that destroyed a Sharpsville garage, Fire Chief Andrew Totin said.

Firefighters were called to 58 S. Walnut St. at 9:49 p.m. by Sandy Melius, who owns and lives in the home that is about 3 feet away from the garage, Totin said.

Totin said Mrs. Melius heard oxygen tanks exploding in the garage where her husband Dan and others were working on a motorcycle.

No one reported injuries, Totin said, but the men had singed clothing.

The garage, two motorcycles — one Melius’ Harley Davidson and another he was working on — and many tools inside were destroyed by the blaze, Totin said.

“Anything imaginable you’d think would be in a garage, I think they had it,” Totin said, noting that they had welders and cutting tools.

Firefighters were able to protect the Melius’ home and put out the fire, but it melted the vinyl siding on the house and another garage next door, he said. Several windows at their home were also broken by the fire.

Totin declined to put a dollar amount on the damage, saying he leaves that to insurance adjusters.

The Meliuses are able to stay in their house, Totin said.

Hermitage and South Pymatuning Township volunteer firefighters were on standby to cover the borough while Sharpsville firefighters were at the scene, Totin said.

They left the site of the fire at about 11:40 p.m., he said.

It was great, the acetylene and oxygen tanks from the welding equipment were exploding as we were trying to extinguish the fire. Yeah, real fun stuff.

no, you didn't misspell it... SSP administrative leadership has devised a new strategy to rename photo threads... this is an example of why that isn't a good idea
