^I would HATE to live across the street from that house in the second pic. Freak me the hell out every time I wake up in the middle of the night to get water or sumptin...

When did Pioneer Courthouse Square become Pioneer Square? I was under the impression that the proper name is the former (PCS).. I am just curious of when this change came about. I am reading Phillip Margolin's Portland based novel "The Associate" and he refers to the square as "Pioneer Square", also. No big deal.

I found something fun on the site For Portlanders Only, http://www.platypuscomix.net/fpo/videos/brickyourself81.html

Anyone know if you can still get your name on a brick?

⇑ I guess I was mistaken. Sorry about that. I did purchase a brick back then.

Although referred to as Pioneer Square in the video, according to Bureau of Parks and Recs which manages the park, it is named Pioneer Courthouse Square.

I think this is the "official" website:
http://www.pioneercourthousesquare.org/
Yes, the name is Pioneer Courthouse Square, and you can still get a brick with your name on it, according to the home page! There's also a "brick finder" for people who have already bought bricks.

Not to get off-subject, but you got me looking at that website for like an hour or so last night!-- it's really interesting and hilarious if you're from this area.

There's a clip of an early '80s TV news story about the plans to redevelop the 'Paramount' theater and adjacent block for the current Performing Arts Center -- talking about the challenges associated with the South Park Blocks' high crime at the time.
