I had some business this Friday in Dallas, so my wife and I went up on Thursday to check out the Big D. This was actually my first time to walk around Dallas' DT. We loved it. Hope you enjoy our walking tour.

Cool cool. I have to confess, I haven't walked around downtown Dallas either. It's pretty much the only major city in Texas where I haven't done that, other than El Paso.

Nice to see the finished product on the old Dallas City Hall. They restored it, replacing the tower.

On a more serious note -- DT Dallas. Downtown is odd, and I wonder if you felt the same thing when you were there? It's just strange -- such great iconic skyscrapers...downtown even has a Chicago-like look to it. But for the most part it's a ghost town. The skyscrapers are just monuments to a time when downtown was a cool and booming commercial hub.

Great pics though! No pictures of City Hall? It's ok, you might've gone blind looking at it ;)

I should have gotten a map so I could figure out where everything was, including the city hall. We just walked down the streets. I think we did see it in the distance at one time, but we were dead ass tired by that time.

Agreed the clock tower looks great, but this building was never Dallas City Hall. The Old Red Courthouse was completed in 1892 and was the 5th County Courts building to be built on that site (the first four burned down). The original clock tower was removed in 1919 because of structural problems. It took almost ninety years to get it replaced, but it was worth the wait.

That's right. I had read before that it was the courthouse, but for some reason had a mental block and "City Hall" popped in there.
