Hello,

I am researching information on tall circular or polygonal buildings from the late 1950s to early 190s era. Below is a list of some that I found. I would greatly appreciate any leads on other buildings from this era in the U. S. and around the world.

Thank you very much,

Steve McQuillin

Tall circular buildings? Its much easier to call them beer-cans... That's what we call them in Milwaukee, seeing as how I can think of at least five towers in Milwaukee that fit this description...

Detroit - Renaissance Center* - 1 Circular tower surrounded by 4 near circular towers and two more on the side.

* See also John Portman's whoring of the same tower in LA, Atlanta...

More Milwaukee Beer Cans:

McCormick Hall (Marquette University)

^^^ There is a quarter slice that is taken out of this otherwise circular building, it is on the other side of the building in this picture...

College Court Apartments:

^^^ These are twin towers, so there are two towers...

Apparently someone in Milwaukee in the 1970's decided that stripped, circular, beige and brick buildings made a lot of sense and were incredibly stylish...

In Seattle, the first Westin Hotel tower would count (40, probably 400', 1960?), though the second Westin tower is too new (44, 440, 1982). There's also an apartment building at 8th & Pine built in the 60s or thereabouts (25?).

Christopher Inn, Columbus Ohio. I believe 13 floors, cylindrical, built I think 1963..demolished in the late 80's early 90's I believe. It is in Emporis.

Also the Lincoln and Morrill towers at OSU..I think they are 26 floors and built around 1965. I am not sure how many sides they have,,but they fit the criterion. And they are ugly as sin. Pics are in the ugliest building threads/worst architectural abominaton thread. Also in Emporis.

You could call this one "post-cyclindrical". It's a Phillip Johnson design from 1982 and it's slightly irregular and so not quite cyclindrical:

I don't have a picture of it, but the McIntyre Medical building at McGill University in Montreal was built in 1965 and fits your profile well. I believe its around 15 stories and is featured prominently in many of the famous Montreal skyline shots taken from Mount Royal.
