Hi, today I went to El Golf Neighborhood, in Las Condes, Santiago, to take some pictures, it has a commercial/financial area and a very traditional residential area.

I hope you like it!

You have it the wrong way around. They copied Phily. So don't call us the fuckers! This tower in the picture above was built over 5 years after the phily one (7 to be exact).

I didn't know they registered building designs with the USPTO.

Where are the "Indians?"

"Indians" account for 5% of chilean population, and live mainly in the Ninth Region of Chile, where the government tries to encourage them to continue with their culture and traditions.

I heard Chile's census downplays its indigenous population, by discounting those who no longer speak the native language, or practice the "obvious," native ,cultures.

Not really, people are declared of a certain race by their ethnic background, just like in the US.

Their have been made genetic studies to chilena population and the average chilean is 75% european and 25% native american, but most of the people with a higher indigenous proportion are either found some parts of the south, were most of indians live or in the north, in the territories that used to belong to Peru and Bolivia. But in Santiago and all the central region people are predominantly of european origin.

Wow, I thought that One Liberty Place was famous enough for people to realize that my post above actually was meant to be joke.

Perhaps not...

Santiago is such an affluent region that has beautiful architecture: gorgeous European style neighborhoods next to cutting-edge sparkling glass towers. Tied with Buenos Aires, it is my favorite city in South America. Peo, I still want to know what you do for work to be able to afford to live in Santa Maria de Manquehue! I asked you in the Chilean forum in your original thread and you have never answered me!

I was impressed with Santiago, when I visited 2 years ago. I was expecting it to be more like other Latin American cities, but it was very modern, clean and affluent, for the most part. The only thing I didn't like about it was the terrible air quality, which I guess stemmed from a combination of a rapidly growing metropolis, and the fact that its perched at the base of the Andes, thus creating a trap for the air. Is the government doing anything to improve the air quality there?

Well, we have really strong restrictions, fireplaces are banned, industries have a limit in the pollution they can produce, there is restriction over contaminating vehicles on critic days, all the public transport buses have been renovated (Transantiago) with much more environmental friendly buses, among many other measures.
