Only The Lonely..

That's a good looking street, reminds me a little of Times Square.

I've never been to Toronto before, just the airport. What's the difference between Yonge street and Bloor? Are they both pretty similiar or are they different streets in terms of the businesses on them and the people who use them?

Just curious..

Thanks!

Nice pictures! I remember I was near Dundas square a couple years ago and one of those video screens was showing a Windows error message. I notice they've changed the sign on the Maritime life building, too.

There is actually a huge difference between the two streets. Yonge Street is, as most Canadians would say, "The Main Drag". Full of people and life, dollar stores, a bit sleazy in parts, lots of looney regulars:jester: looking for attention... and Bloor, within a few blocks of the Yonge intersection, is much more sophisticated with the high end clothing/jewelry shops. But, having said that, Yonge and Bloor are both VERY long streets, and their character changes many times.
I'm lovin' that shot of the Zanzibar from across the street and up a storey or two. Very cool...

I love Yonge Street. It has that vibrancy.

Yonge changes alot. Just north of downtown, Yonge has amazing(although expensive) unique one of a kind stores, and is very classy.

Downtown Yonge is the cool, vibrant stretch. Its the part you feel all the city energy.
That being said, while the mix of stores on downtown Yonge make it what it is, I do wish the mix was a little better in places on the downtown stretch.
I wish I could support downtown Yonge more with my shopping dollars, but aside from a few stores that I go to, there are tons of others that could be better and could bring a little more vibrancy to the street. Thats just my view.

Infact there are a number of places I shop at downtown that I wish where centralized on downtown Yonge instead of far flung parts of downtown.

It makes me wonder sometimes why more of the cool stores are not setting up shop on downtown Yonge and instead in weird out of the way places downtown.

Either way I still like Yonge Street :)

Yes, I love the Zanzibar shot as well, hehe. Toronto often comes off as very slick, lacking grit for a big city imo.

Anyway, does anyone know the name of that supertall tower that's cut off in the first pic?
