Interesting Facts/Records (in own words): Landessender Sarnen was the first mediumwave transmitter using a skywave antenna.
The antenna used by Landessender Sarnen consists of two dipoles mounted on 40 metres tall lattice towers. Each dipole has a
length of 170 metres, this corresponds to 0.88 of the used wavelength.

The lattice towers of the antenna are somewhat unusual as they have no diagonal bars. The tower in the middle of the dipole
is of square that at the ends of triangular cross section.

Landessender Sarnen used to broadcast on 1566 kHz on 300 kW. As skywave propagation does not work at daytime, the transmitter was
regulary not in service at daytime.
At night, however, it was easily receiveable in whole Europe. However in 1992 it was shut down.
The antenna is however still there and the station may be still functionable.
