I saw a sign for a development application on the parking lot of Place d'orleans with 4 green garbage bins. (right across the street from the old Petro Canada)

I went home and looked it up, it seems like it's going to be a Farm Boy. I think this is good news for St Joseph blvd. I wonder if they decided to build it since Celestia condo is going up near by.

It's too bad that the original Farm Boy location was closed down - that was a great location.

Yeah eh, its weird they close down that location at centrum and now open one 5min walk away. Maybe the rent was getting too high.

I shop fairly frequently at (a different) farm boy. They do postal code survey's all the time at the cash to see where customers are coming from. I suspect they didn't feel they needed the store once they opened the one on Innes. I am guessing what they probably found out is that few people from North Orleans were heading all the way up to Innes rd.

Heck when I lived out that way I used to go to Walmart a fair bit when they were at Place D'Orleans. It was really easy coming to or from the bus station. Once they moved to Innes road, I never shopped there again as it was not convenient. Retail is all about location.

Orleans has an odd layout due to the escarpment. It is hard and time consuming to travel in a North-South direction and is almost impossible to do on transit. Orleans has also gotten to the size where it can't really be considered one area anymore.

I saw some "Do not enter tape" around the site in front of Place dorleans where the farmboy is planned to be built so I checked the city's website and it says: (Request for Agreement Received. Pad Development for freestanding Retail Store)

They started on the project. It looks like they already removed all the asphalt that used to be parking for place d'orleans.

I'm really happy they started on this.
