Interesting Facts/Records (in own words): Chimney of a lignite fired power station. Offleben Power Station was
established in 1954 as replacement of Harbke Power Station, which could not be used after 1952 as it is situated in former
GDR.
Offleben Power Station was later expanded by further units and a 207 metres tall chimney.
In 2002 the lignite pit, from which it got its fuel was closed and the power station was shut-down on August 9th, 2002.
On September 29th, 2006 the chimney was demolished by explosives.
