I'd rather see it in the core city, but any way you slice it, those are pretty big numbers for Mississippi. Call it the "Nissan" effect powering the area north of Jackson.

I knew it was going to start sooner or later. I've said Jackson is soon to be a residential boom town for the next few years.

Druid, do you know if this is for Canton, MS? If so, if will be a much closer drive to work for many of the employees, I'm sure.

The projects are in Madison and Ridgeland, which are maybe 10-15 miles or so north of downtown Jackson and probably a similar distance south of Canton.

Oh so the development is located within Jackson & Canton. That's a prime residential location just waiting to happen. Seems someone is going to make a killing!

Although it's "suburban retail sprawl," it appears the suburb of Flowood, east of Jackson, is becoming the retail hub of that metro area :

"Once completed, these four developments will account for 2 million square feet of retail space in Flowood..."

"A study of the area shows that last year the average household income within a three-mile radius of Magnolia Marketplace was $97,421."

An update on some of the initial construction is in today's Jackson newspaper :

Canton is within 20-25 minutes of downtown.. the northern end towards Madison is the boom area. Jax has some serious money as well.. a very very under-rated town imop.

It feels much larger than it actually is ~

Jackson has high end retailers to compliment the high end communities. The metro's largest mall and the largest in Mississippi, Northpark, boast stores such as Restoration Hardware, Banana Republic, Goodiva Chocalatier and Wiliam Sonoma. The McRae's department store flagship in that mall has a Gucci boutique.
