Major parks upgrades and renos

The City is currently in the process of upgrading a number of parks across Surrey. Many are already under construction, and a few are still in the design and planning stages. All the info is after the jump!


Wickson Point @ Blackie Spit

The plan includes a new passive grassed area, flower gardens, a wind art feature, shower, and upgraded waterfront walkway. Construction is set to begin shortly.


Morgan Heights Linear Park

The plan includes new entry plazas, stormwater detention ponds with a viewing platform, passive grassed areas, and pathways. Construction is currently underway.


Kwomais Point

The multi-phased plan includes restoration of natural areas, installation of lookout platforms, new pathways, and upgraded facilities. Construction is now underway and it is scheduled to initially open in early 2010.

Sunnyside

The plan includes a new sports court and playground, two new softballs diamonds, restored forest and wetland, a new parking lot, and new trees. Construction is currently underway and upgrades will be phased.


Robson

The plan includes major creek restoration, a new playground and walking loop, upgraded soccer fields, and a new parking lot. Park upgrades are underway and will continue through 2010.


Kennedy

T.E. Scott

Surrey Bend

Surrey Bend is one of the last untouched, natural areas in the city and a park management plan is currently being developed by Metro Vancouver. Stay tuned for more info.

pretty neat looking I must say.

I also dig this park planned for 83 Avenue and 160 Street by the Fleetwood Seniors Centre.

i personally am hoping for a water front walk way at surrey bend

^ they should change the insdustral land to residental/commerical and build a wonderful seawalk so you can walk beyond the boundaries of Bend.

that i can completely agree with

i want some water front walk ways along the fraser
i actually still hope they make the one they had planed for down in south westminster / brownsville area
connecting the two parks down there

Some retail developments were proposed in the South Westminster area...along Scott Road (near Scott Road station). They should do some rezoning there and it will become a fine Waterfront community with easy access to SkyTrain Expo Line, Scott Road Interchange, Essentials (all the stores that would open in the area), Putallo Bridge, Future LRT?? They might want to add a new school as well ;)


And a PARK!

This one is from Feb|09

It looks like they still want to have business parks in that area. However, great to see that they plan a pedestrian walkway along the river. (one small section)

if you look at the lower right hand corner you'll see the real date of which it was approved which is december 8 03
