Itaipú has an accent in ú.

20 generators at all instead of only 18, according bldg site. www.itaipu.gov.br (http://www.itaipu.gov.br) in english, spanish or portuguese.

According to Data here attached from source, it has aprox. 260m high as total height including the main barrage and basement. So please put Spire as 260m and roof 196m, as 196 do not consider the crane atop main barrage even not the difference of level between ground of intake artificial lake and drain outgages floor, which has some 40m of difference level. See drawings. EL 225m up to end of concrete wall. The Hook of Door intake Cranes has 247m. According to drawings bellow the portic has 13m more, making a total spire of 260m.

Here it is not considered the 4 electric pylons in main lake on island besides the top of concrete arc wall, which those pylons are 100m high estimated. So for pylons included has 225m+100m=325m, but i consider the 4 pylons as separate structures even connected and on the top of main barrage. Maybe a note for that would be necessary. See photos at End.

Since 2006 more 2 turbines is working making a total of 20.

Itaipú Dam was the world's biggest hydroelectric facility upon its completion with a total of installed capacity (potency) of Itaipú is 14,000 megawatts, with 20 generator units of 700 megawatts each one. Second biggest compared to Three Gorges of installed capacity (22,400 mW), but not in energy production. Thanks to the geological, hydrological and topography conditions more advantageous, Itaipu will be able research a production of 100 million mWh, when Itaipú will have the other two generators units working. The Yang-tse River doesn´t offer so satisfactory conditions, that is why the prevision is that the Three Gorges reaches one generation of 84 million of mWh.

The Itaipú Hydroelectric Power Plant reached, in 2006, the second bigger production of energy of its history: 92,689,936 megawatt-hours (mWh). The total produced by Itaipu would be enough to supply about 81 days the consumption of electric energy all of Brazil, that in the last year reached a historical platform.
In 2006, the production of Itaipu all took care of 20% of the Brazilian consumption of electricity and 95% of the Paraguayan demand. It was only a little below of its historical record of year 2000 (93,427,598 mWh).

The cost was approximately US$ 1.000 by KW (kilowatts) installed, this way arriving therefore next the US$ 12 billion. The value brought up to date with the interests and inflation in dollar during the period is around of US$ 16 billion. The debt is now belongs completely, to Eletrobrás, which receives from Itaipú and discharge financial that Itaipú had inside and outside.
The 2 new generator units had been installed to a cost of US$ 184 million 601 a thousand as established one in the contract signed for Itaipú with the trust of companies that won the international licitation for manufacture installation of the new machines.

SCADA - Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
A computerized supervision and control system, implanted by Itaipú Binacional in the end of 2002, is allowing optimize and improve the quality of the energy generated, beyond increase the trustworthiness in the supplying. This system is composed by lots linked computers, softwares and others disposals that, operating in joint, check and control all the generation, transformation and of the transmission process of the electric energy generated in Itaipú, at the same time that allows the automatic control of the generation and of the dam tension.
