Interesting Facts/Records (in own words):
Originally the middle tract was built in the style of an Italian country house as a 5-storey cubic block with double-barrelled free stairs to both sides from 1664 by Agostino Barelli and was finished 1675. The castle was extended in the course of the time bit by bit and was reshaped.

At first Max Emanuel let in 1702 to 1704 both galleries beside the main castle and two northern joining in it and two southern pavilions from Enrico Zuccalli and Giovanni Antonio Viscardi establish. In the second northern pavilion built Viscardi in 1713 the castle chapel. In 1716 Joseph Effner changed the facades of the main construction according to French model. It originated in the middle of the single floors three big rundbogige windows, framed by kannelierte pilasters which reach up to the roof.

Elector Karl Albrecht allowed to establish the both joining the northern and southern pavilions to external constructions for the orangery in the north and the Marstall in the south, both with connecting wings to the pavilions.

The constructions external from the both outgoing, after 1730 finished circular flower bed cultivation before the main tract it counted at his time as an architectural sensation. It should become a starting point of a never achieved "Carlstadt". Maximilian III Joseph instructed François de Cuvilliés with the " stone hall " in the main construction. Elector Karl Theodor let, in the end widen the, galleries to the park side. Leo von Klenze removed in 1826 the gables with the health resort-princely coats of arms and created, instead, in the main construction the Attika.

The castle was long time the summer residence of the Wittelsbacher and today hears together with the castle park nymph's castle to the best known places of interest of Germany. The castle was ordered 1664 by the elector Ferdinand Maria as a present to his Mrs. Adelheid von Savoyen when she had born Max Emanuel as a long desired heir to the throne to him. Max Emanuel himself had later essential interest in the extension of the castle.

In the Nymphenburger contract of 1741 France, Spain, Bavaria, Saxony formed an alliance with Prussia against Austria. In 1747 Max III Joseph founded the Nymphenburger porcelain manufacture.

King Maximilian I died in 1825 in the castle, his great-grandchild king Ludwig II was born in 1845 here. In 1863 the only meeting took place in nymph's castle between Ludwig and Otto von Bismarck who remained linked to him in lifelong friendship.

By the revolution in 1918 nymph's castle came under Krongutverwaltung, then to state property. Nevertheless, the Wittelsbacher kept a residential right in three middle buildings. Still today thus the respective boss of the house Brook Wittels lives in the castle, nowadays Franz von Bayern. During the second world war the castle up to the direct hit in the castle chapel of heavy destructions remained spared. In 1972 the Olympic riding competitions were held before the scenery of the Nymphenburger castle.

It stays current with some renovations and restoration.
