Interesting Facts/Records (in own words): Schlemmin Television Tower was until 1992 a popular tourist attraction in former East Germany ( see old postcard on http://www.ak-verkauf.de/crimages.php?imagefile=images/images_big/ut5/ut020321.jpg , in West Germany it was nearly complete unknown). It had an observation deck, which could be reached by an elevator. The height of the tower was until 1992 64 metres.
In 1992 the tower was extensively modernized. Unfortunately its observation deck got closed in this year. The tower got a new culpit with a pinnacle on its top. Its actual height is 94 metres.
At the feet of the tower there was until 1992 an inn, which is demolished today ( look at http://www.wikimapia.org/#y=53858247&x=11837082&z=18&l=5&m=h&v=2 , the tower on Wikimapia). However the parking lots are still there.

The tower is situated a few kilometres southwest of Schlemmin, a village, which is part of Bernritt ( so the name).
