Post yours!

Agreed! Easily one of my favorite city seals. It just looks so powerful... and establishes the black and gold color scheme. Fits the city perfectly.

what happened to my gianormous city flag thread? I did it about two years ago but I can't find it on the old archive? I could repost if I could find it out in cyber space.

Thanks for the info on your flag thread. But I have not been around that long to know about it. I would like to have seen it.

The Pittsburgh one looks a lot better on that flag.

I like Pittsburgh's. I think it's technically a coat of arms rather than a 'seal'.

It comes from the full arms of William Pitt.

The seafoam green background (which is not part of the seal) in the original picture posted is not very flattering.

This thread reminds me of a joke my friend Chrysantha likes:

Girl: Hey, let's go clubbing tonight!
Guy: We have clubs in this town?
Girl: No, but we have BABY SEALS!

Hahahahaha

Anyway.

^How could I have forgotten DC? Nice seal.

I think I found Cleveland's original seal, although it looks like it's associated with its city council:

I think we're the only city that includes a depiction of skyscrapers on the city seal.

i cant see any of the seals due to a challenging internet connection, but ive always been partial to the stl seal, with its riverboat. in fact, i have a coaster here with the seal on it, with a can of beer on it.

Calgary
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/48/Calgary_Crest.jpg

Crest: A mural crown signifying city status and loyalty, with the setting sun representing Calgary's position in western Canada.
Shield:
~ Chief: A setting sun over the Rocky Mountains
~ Charges: A bull buffalo (the original inhabitant of the area) charging a maple leaf (representing Canada) that surmounts the Cross of St. George (representing the english settlers that founded the city).
Compartment: The mount consists of two red maple leaves (symbolising Canada), a thistle (for Scotland), leek (for Wales), shamrocks (for Ireland) and a rose (for England).
Supporters: A horse and a steer, representing the ranching past.
Scroll: The city motto, "Onward" between the foundation year (1884) and the incorporation year (1894).

The Union Jack and the Canadian Red Ensign are crossed under the scroll.

The landscape in the chief and the cross in the shield body are a reversal of the coat of arms of Alberta.

Salt Lake has the lamest seal of any city ever known to man. It's unoriginal, bland and totally dated.

Canadian cities have coats or arms instead. There's something more pretentiously British about them.
