Interesting Facts/Records (in own words): Berlin Mueggelberge TV Tower should get the TV tower of Berlin. If completed, it should have a height of 130 metres, including an observation deck 70 metres above ground. Construction works started in 1954. Unfortunately one forgot that the tower would endanger the air traffic on the airport Berlin-Schoenefeld, because its site is situated directly at the flight in-path. So on April 30th, 1956 construction work stopped temporarily and on November 15th, 1956 permanently.
The stump was afterwards converted in a building of the MfS. Officially it was claimed that the tower should get a meteorological tower for the television network of former GDR, which was not required any more.
