Maroochy is a shire and Local Government Area that comprises one of the three Local Government Areas of the Sunshine Coast metropolitan area.
Maroochy shire is the includes the centre of Maroochydore, the regional centre of the Sunshine Coast. The shire measures 1,158 km², and is situated on the Pacific Ocean just 100 km north of the state capital of Brisbane.
The Sunshine Coast, a statistical division, includes three local government areas, has a population of 220,199 (2006).
