Description
The Globe Theater was rebuilt in the 1990s on a site near the location of the original.

Built in 1599 to house Shakespeare's company, the original Globe Theatre was where many of Shakespeare's plays were presented for the first time.
It was damaged in a fire in 1613, and destroyed in the English Civil War of 1643.
