Winnipeg looks really nice. You've amassed a great collection of photos. Is Winnipeg on track to be the next million person city in Canada?

Winnipeg has a metro population of about 840,000 people . Yes it was track to hit a million people next , pre pandemic , but still should be next to the million people cities in Canada

Thanks!!

The street car sculpture is a piece commemorating the 1919 General Strike that engulfed the city. This famous photo in which a street car was overturned and set afire, was the inspiration behind the sculpture.

Winnipeg was the "gateway to the west" and was the third largest city in Canada in the 1911 and 1921 censuses. For most of the early 20th century, Winnipeg and Vancouver were pretty close in size (Van really pulled ahead from WWII on).

oh look at that i had no idea. very interesting to read about. i thought it was just a statement about the foolish era of ditching public street car transit for busses or something more abstract like that. i guess thats a very good piece of public art if you dont know about it, but it still works as food for thought regardless.
