I dunno, looks greener than I expected from that angle too... If it ends up being shades of green similar to WPW I'll be thrilled.

Should be nice, but I bet the original concepts window color(thread photo) would have stood out a lot more. Even green would have been better. To many blue glass buildings in Chicago.

Anyone get a pic of the small tower furthest east? I believe there's glass near the top that would give us a good idea of color.

WTF?? And the sky is blue too. Does that mean we don't need variety. Almost every new glass building going up lately has had blue glass. Insulting people you don't agree with makes you look really immature.

Has anyone ever done a building with glass that works like those “Transitions” eyeglass lenses? Virtually clear on overcast days or in winter when there isn’t much sun, but turning brownish for shade in bright sunlight?

That sounds like it would literally cost $100 billion so no.

I haven't seen it in action, but supposedly the new glass lobby at the Shakespeare Theater on Navy Pier does this. Certainly on the last sunny day that I was there it was the most reflective of blacks. I think it becomes more transparent when it is overcast.

The windows on the Dreamliner do this too. It’s just a coating.

On dreamliner it's actually an electrilfied gel between 2 panes of glass... but to your point it is "relatively" cheap... so the B$100 comment is silly.

Ah - took the words out of my mouth. On the Dreamliner you can also set the level manually yourself (until the crew sets it so you can't when everyone needs to sleep) between about 6 different settings no matter what the light is like outside. Anyone who has actually flown on the Dreamliner with a window seat would know this - it's definitely not a coating.

Looks like their currently installing the rest of the gems 2 crane. Going to be cool seeing three cranes moving at the same time in a tight area.

The passive window tint thing is a cool idea. I've never thought of that before. I found this article:
