Patrick: The top will likely be used to house mechanical equipment. And I'll echo northbay's comments - those renderings are indeed sick. Uber sick.

Tanster: Where did you hear that? I haven't heard anything about a public observation deck, which would be quite uncommon for a residential tower. My guess is that it would be a private observation deck for the residents of the tower or the owner of the penthouse.

Sorry about what I said Aluminum.
I'm a native Los Angeles County resident, so when I hear anyone criticize my beloved hometown, I tend to trip alot.
Our city has been through alot of criticism over the decades, and i'm kinda sick of it.

About earlier, the reason why I said Los Angeles is growing faster is because of the % growth.

For instance:
Chicago has around some 40 skyscrapers planned.
NYC has about 150 skyscrapers planned(but that can be expected because its skyline is already huge, so its growth is probably 25%)
But the Los Angeles' skyline is set to DOUBLE by 2020!, with almost 100 skyscrapers planned, so the percentage growth is larger in L.A.

Hey by the way, how do you snap a photo of a view on GoogleEarth?

From wiki:

Quote:
Amenities include, two rooftop pools,an observation deck on the 76-story tower, a first for L.A., rooftop gardens on the 15th and 36th floors of the 43-story tower with built-in fire pits, fitness rooms in each tower, 20-seat theater viewing rooms, music and video libraries in each tower, and classrooms for wine tastings, cooking classes and other educational seminars.

Aluminum, what we want to hear is "Sorry for being a Jackass". Not whatever. Cause LA rules

Here are some more (advanced) renderings I made for you guys.

This shows the elevation of the nearby towers, due to the height of Bunker Hill, the Tower looks much smaller.

From Inside the City.

Best for last! From Pershing Square.

The first sketch is amazing. It would be even more amazing if there was something planned for that surface parking lot right next to the Metro station.

Patrick, you rule.

A cookie for you if you make a rendering(s) with Concerto, The Ritz, and Grand Ave. Please.

After looking at this pic, it makes me wish that Cal Plaza 3 was build. Look at that large empty park.

I'm not sure what they are, but they are certainly not nanobots.

I know I may sound hypocritical, but can we all just chill and talk some more about the Park Fifth Project?

Very cool pictures. Hopefully they will build them. And I think that LA has more potential to build them because there are much more empty space comparing to NYC, where our local "NY LOVERS" cheer every time some beautiful building is getting slated for demolition, in order to build another crap. At least in LA - there is no such a huge problem with space. Good Luck

I really like how the design incorporates an unobstructed view of Metro 417. I also like all the vegetation and the mid-century look of the whole development.

Too bad you have to endure all the bullshit on this thread to get info about Park Fifth.

Patrick, thanks for all your visual contributions to this thread.

Patrick: I sure would like to do what you did using Google sketchup and Google Earth showing the Seattle Bellevue area. Am looking at the sketchup program looks a bit intimidating......any suggestions on the best way to get started (other than reading the directions )? There aresome great things going on up here and sure would like to get an idea of what the skyline is going to look like. Thanks

The past couple a days people have been talking about a sign being taken down, what's that about?

And I want credible answers.....not an arguement like we saw on the Los Angeles Downtown Rundown thread......

Here is another “sign” that Park Fifth is moving forward. This ad has been placed at the future construction site of Park Fifth.

Here is the most credible answer I can give you. The sign pictured in my post above, apparently was spotted a few weeks ago.

Sodha saw it and posted the following eyewitness account:
Quote:
I just walked by 5th & Olive at 8 pm and they just put up a huge ad for Park 5th on the street corner. It looks awesome. "Downtown is looking up" is the theme. Whoever this developer is, this person cares about downtown. Check it out! Hopefully this becomes a reality!

Many other urbanist, including myself, set out that weekend to spot the elusive ad. After searching the entire block, the only thing I could report was a sighting of a sign with a blank white canvas. Many speculations about what happened, but no one knows for sure. When everyone was ready to give up, the rare and exciting beast suddenly appeared and this time was captured on film for all to see.

May not sound credible, but its true.
