They have glass up now on Floor 2. Also, this has surpassed the height of One Hawthorne by a few floors and can be seen from the West (and easily from the Bay Bridge). I won't be able to get pictures for a while, maybe someone else can?

This is an impactful building for the skyline.

Looks good so far. Can't wait to see how it looks with several more floors in place.

222 Mission has now completed the wall in this direction from my dentist's office on the 21st floor of 450 Sutter--I wish it were taller!

Also from yesterday, sorry about the crappy quality. I need a new phone.

Were we all out there taking pics yesterday?

From the site of 350 Mission and over the Transbay Tower/Terminal site:

Perhaps more than the other new buildings going up, you have to see this one in person to appreciate the impact it makes. It's only 350' but it feels taller than that since everything immediately surrounding it is shorter. It really commands your attention from street level in the neighborhood.

Looking west down Howard, which is probably its least flattering angle:

The glass is beautiful and almost reads as black. Way back, I thought this was going to look very similar to 555 Mission, but there's no chance of that. The glass and massing are totally different:

Notice how the glass along Second extends beyond the skin on Howard:

Agreed--because of the smaller scale of nearby buildings, in person this tower seems massive, both up close and also on the skyline. I think this is a game-changer for the area.

It it were being built in the heart of the financial district, it might not be noticeable.

I thought it was actually 370 ft? Only 10 ft shorter than 535 Mission... Either way, not "tall", but actually still one of the absolute tallest office towers going up in the entire country right now since everything everywhere is residential! I agree that in person from many angles it also appears very tall, from street level and about 1-2 blocks away. It doesn't really seem to have a large impact on the skyline, though.

Yep, 350' to the roof and 370' to the top of the mechanical screening. From the planning department:

Quote:
The finished roof of the Project will reach a height of 350 feet. Rooftop mechanical equipment, elevator penthouses, and associated screening will reach a height of 370 feet. Pursuant to Section 260(b)(1), these features are exempt from the applicable height limit. The Project Sponsor has requested a Zoning Map Amendment and a General Plan Amendment to change the applicable height limit on the westerly portion of the property from the 150-S to the 350-S Height and Bulk District. These amendments will make the height limit for this westerly portion consistent with the remainder of the Project Site.

^^^which for all intents and purposes is 370 ft. If a spire is officially counted as height, then the official height of this building is 370 ft.

Also, SF defines a roof as essentially the ceiling height of the top floor. The rest of the world defines a roof as a roof + physical structure/extension of facade (basically anything less than spire, antenna, or decorative element that isn't entirely structural).

Many of the country's buildings would be 30-100 ft shorter in SF if they were located here and used local definitions for height.

Wow! This one went up really fast.

Going back one page, the first steel popped out of the site in late-April, so it only took four months to go from ground level to topped out. 26 floors in 18 weeks is almost 1.5 floors per week.

I didn't realize the delineation of the sections would be achieved by altering the angles of the glass panels - it's a pretty cool effect that makes the building much more interesting than it otherwise would have been.
