absolutely.

so far this century, chicago has constructed 13 buildings over 700' tall, but two of them are really in a category all their own, height-wise.

^ Very minor concern, but I always thought 150 N Riverside was 752 feet tall. Perhaps a typo in the model above?

I've done a number of runs along the Lakeshore and races that take this route. This is always one of my favorite parts of running along the Lake. The view just keeps getting better and better. Thrilling.

My assumption is it’ll top out just beneath that crane cab.

Looking at some of those shots, any Aon Center love?

I'm a big fan of that tower (sometimes I feel like I'm the only one that likes it). It just reminds me of the original twin tower, hence my bias towards it. I hope they rethink that planned obs deck on Aon (doesn't look good).

I think it complements Vista nicely, both being monoliths, but in their unique approach and style.

In Solarwinds shot in post #5161, you can just see decades worth of towers. Spanning various periods in architecture history, all within less than a sq-mile.

Not many cities can boast having that historical collection or even the fact that such a collection is present.

Na, closer to the tip of the boom is where it'll top out

As someone who is unfamiliar with these terms what part of the crane is that?

The part that extends upward and outward from the cab. The hook comes down from the end of the boom.

I love how many blank walls and parking bases this project and the school covered up. Really hoping that the one on the side of chandler is one day covered up too. It would be a tragedy if it stayed visible. The alderman needs to push for this.

TK2001, are you sure there's still so much left to go? Of course I hope you are right, but according to the photo below which was taken from a sufficiently far vantage point that's practically equidistant from Vista and Aon, these two buildings are now nearly the same height, so I thought Vista is pretty close to topping out, like just 3 or 4 more floors above the core.

you're not alone! I like Aon too because of its simple massiveness. It just has a presence to it that gives you the feeling it has its own slight gravitational pull.

This was in my Block Club Chicago email thread this morning. Scroll down to the bottom for the video of these nuts swinging from Vista.

Sweaty palms just watching the brief clip.

I used to do a lot of parkour/free running (legitimately) - these guys are insane to a stupid level. Hopefully they don't end up like that guy in China this year or last year who fell to his death.
