COVID-19 Manitoba

Good thing the casinos in Winnipeg are still open, where else can large groups of gamblers congregate!

Costco finally limiting toilet paper and paper towels to one package per customer!

Should have been implemented last week, better late than never!

4 confirmed cases. 0 deaths. Hundreds being tested.
Universities closed to in person classes on 3/16/20
Public schools closing 3/23/20 for 3 weeks.
Travel outside Canada not advised. Self isolation for 14 days for international travellers.
Health worker travel outside MB strongly discouraged.
Social distancing strongly recommended. Casinos should be closed.
Let’s all pull together. We will get through this. Protect your parents and grandparents. If you’re sick, stay home!

Casinos are still open in BC as well (since I know that you guys were asking ).

The casinos remaining open is perplexing; there is just SO much human to object contact whether its via the dealers, the cards, the slot machines, the dice... On cruise ships, the casinos onboard are one of the FIRST departments to close whenever there is a certain number of sick cases reported on board.

Can’t shut down the cash cows!!! Lol, yeah this is a serious problem and it seems like most people aren’t really aware of how dangerous it can be... I work in an assisted living home... I’ve never seen so many visitors. Why people are coming to a seniors home while a deadly virus is making rounds is beyond me.

Probably because they think seniors homes will be locked down soon or .......worse!

The casinos need to be closed ASAP. Outside of seniors homes, I don't know where you'd find a bigger collection of elderly people in compromised states of health. It's wild that they're still open.

Also disturbed by the images coming from North American hub airports over the past 48 hours...huge crowds standing in line for hours before being sent on their way back to their hometowns. You'd be hard pressed to come up with a better system for transmitting covid-19.

What’s even more shocking and completely insane is Canada allowing people to fly into Canadian airports from abroad unchecked while the rest of the world still allowing flights are vigorously screening passengers at airports!

Apparently the card games have been shut down and only the VLT's are running as its easier to clean the VLT screens. Still have people shoulder to shoulder on the machines unless the next step is to close every 2nd one on the bank rows of machines.

I don't have first hand knowledge of this though, I was told this Saturday morning by somebody who goes there on a frequent basis, and also employs some of the Casino's part time staff in his business.

From zero cases detected on thursday wer are now up to 7 in Manitoba.

Most of these are people that had been travelling, mainly through Asia.

I know some people are not taking this seriously but just think of the elderly, babies and people with weak immune systems. They can die. In the case of Italy it is a real disaster. PLease be considerate and take of yourself and those around you. Take the government advice seriously, PLEASE!

7 confirmed cases, 0 deaths.
Access at HSC limited, other facilities likely to follow. Self isolation after international travel recommended. Anyone with plans to travel should strongly reconsider.
Trudeau stating that closing borders could be considered. US cases over 3000 and climbing rapidly, dozens of fatalities and hospitals starting to be pushed hard in US.

Hoboken, NJ is being hit hard, and the mayor has instituted a mandatory curfew, people can't go out between 10pm and 5am unless they have to work. All restaurants and bars are barred from serving food.

So far AB, SK, and MB do not seem to be taking this as seriously as it needs to be taken. Schools are still open in AB and SK, etc.
