That sounds pretty good to me, if only we could buy up some land for that.

The city really needs to define areas and really promote it to the public and media.

Today, two local news stations ran a story about a ride accident at the Kiddie Park at Broadway and Mulberry Ave. Both stations were live with reporters at said Kiddie Park. Both reporters and stations referred to the location as "DOWNTOWN"!! WTF!!!???

Seriously.

Don't forget the potential mixed-use re-development of Hemisfair Park that the Mayor and Overland Partners are pushing for.

Hey if you live in Boerne, kiddie park sure seems like downtown.

I think they oughta turn Hemisfair into a pedestrian only neighborhood. I think that would be freaking amazing.

i drove through downtown SA on saturday and had a couple of thoughts...

1) vistana is in a little cluster that is beginning to look quite dense and is really a remarkable piece of the skyline from I-10 on the west side of downtown.

2) courtyard by marriott on the riverwalk has to be close to topping out. it is almost even with the holiday inn next door, but it is sooooo much skinnier.

3) the grand hyatt has a beautiful greenish presence in the evening/dusk hours. the condo glass is awesome, giving the building some color but still remaining subtle.

one more thing...

my cousin working on the vistana gave me some insights into whats going on there...

first, all floors will be concrete. don't know personally what that does for noise in a residential high-rise, but i've read plenty of opinions around here.

second, the spire/penthouse is supposed to be spectacular when finished, with wraparound balconies. the top floor of the spire apartment will be a bedroom/bathroom with 360 degree views - or so i am told.

third, rents will start around $800. not bad.

finally, the unofficial name of the spire/penthouse is the Ginobili Suite. apparently, he has been one of the first (and/or more interested) people in the penthouse, so the construction team has just begun calling it his place.

Manu is interested in the Vistana penthouse? That's pretty cool.

Yeah, that west end view from Commerce is quite spectacular now with Vistana.

Does anyone think we should come up with a comprehensive city neighborhoods map that we can all agree on and send it to the city?

Vistana

I used to work at the firm that designed the Vistana, and told one of there associates about the Manu Room. They seemed very excited, I still wish there was another tower at the Houston Street side at Santa Rosa. Then Fabricio Olberto could get the other tower.
