Excavators are now working at the Resilient Properties side of Galway, which is where I assume is where Bogart's and Five Guys are going.

Bogart's is over on that side, Five Guys is going in Building C2 on that strip in front of Princess Auto, along with BMO at the other end of the parking lot

Danny Williams gives update on Galway
https://www.saltwire.com/newfoundlan...ned-100877870/

Quote:
Pizza Hut, Five Guys, Mary Brown's and a four-rink quadruplex are among Galway’s latest building developments.

“(Galway’s) Costco is their third-largest store that they have in the world, and I don't mean the square footage, I mean on a revenue basis. So on that basis alone, it's driving a lot of people to that area. People want to be around that.”

“Eventually, we'd like to get a hotel out there,” said Williams.

The government prohibited the building of the francophone school due to costs, but Williams remains hopeful Galway will have a school in the future.

“There will definitely be a school out there and we have areas allocated now for institutions like a school,” said Williams.

Galway is currently set to open a Mark’s Work Wearhouse, Bank of Montreal, Bogarts Jewelers, Mary Brown’s restaurant, and Mcdonald’s.

There are no plans currently for a Taco Bell.

Outside of the retail space, 10 acres of land donated by Williams are allocated for a four-rink quadruplex.

“We'll donate 10 acres of land for a quadruplex for a four-rink complex which is badly, badly needed in the city,” said Williams.

Galway Wellness Centre is also opening soon, which will include three or four specialists and a pediatrician.

Williams said Galway's residential housing is taking off and Elliott Homes has eight houses under construction this week.

McDonald's is a new one, but it makes sense. His son-in-law is already a franchisee.

Yeah hadn't heard that either. Nobody talks/rumours about new McDonalds restaurants but at the same time I don't think there's actually been a new standalone McDonalds built in the metro for 20 years.

Bogarts

Bogarts has a sign that they're building their location on the opposite side of the road from Scotia Bank. Where they dug it all out last year across from the houses

Mark's

Mark's on Merchant Drive has closed. All the signage is off the building. Notices on the doors say they are moving to Galway and that they are opening there soon. The is no opening date stated.

The last I heard, it was the city's responsibility to finish the section from Southlands to Galway, and Dewcor's responsibility to finish between Princess Auto and the Galway Industrial area. When completed, it should be a pretty busy stretch of road.

Smart Centres have updated the map and now list Party City in the old Marks location on Merchant.

Galway Site plans

The location in front of Princess Auto and Costco looks updated to show a restaurant on the right hand side while only 2 store fronts on the left side instead of the normal 4.

McGalway

According to the All Newfoundland, the McDonald's for Galway is a go with agreements in place that there will be no more coffee or burger establishments in the Shoppes at Galway, other than what's already there. (Tim Hortons, Starbucks, A&W) Five Guys was previously announced so I'm hoping they are included in this umbrella. Mary Brown's was also previously announced but chicken was not in the agreement.

Wild this isn't done. A distance of approx 1km and would alleviate so much congestion from the Galway roundabouts.

I wrote an email to the government about this when they were looking for suggestions on road projects for the 2024-25 year. I also wrote about the Ruth Ave overpass. When the galway interchange and southlands blvd are completed, they could close down Pitts Memorial from the four leaf interchange to the Southlands blvd interchange and tear down the overpass and rebuild it to a proper 4 lane instead of 3 lane road.

Wouldn't hold my breath on that one. Makes too much sense

An entirely new overpass? Not in the cards, but you'd think adding 1 single lane pre-cast section similar to TGH over Topsail Rd would've made some sense at least.
