The busiest street in Killeen Tx is South West South Young Drive. Most well known may be Veterans Memorial.

Back in the old days when we still had restaurants, bars, movie theaters and gyms, Houston's busiest street was probably Westheimer.

Most well known and busiest might be different, and depend on which context.

Some contenders for one or the other:

Oxford Street - mass retail
Whitehall* - government
Fleet Street - newspapers and media
Piccadilly - general touristy-ness, fun name
Bond Street - high end retail
Savile Row** - men’s tailoring

* used to refer to UK government, like “Capitol Hill” in the US. There’s also Downing Street, where the PM and Chancellor’s residences are, but this isn’t a real street anymore, more like a courtyard

** fun fact: the Japanese word for a business suit, sabiro, is a permutation (say it out loud)

For Austin, the sad truth is that the best known and busiest "street" is traffic choked IH35. It is the first thing that comes to mind for residents and visitors alike. Probably more in spirit of the question being asked, however, Congress Ave.(including South Congress), 6th St (both east and west), and Guadalupe (aka "The Drag") are probably the top contenders.

Because everyone here cares about it, Flagstaff, AZ's most well-known is probably Route 66. Runs right through the middle of town and most of the city's retail and commerce is located somewhere along the "Mother Road"

For Phoenix? Central Avenue is the dividing line between the West Valley and East Valley (roads west of Central are Avenues and roads east of Central are streets). Another one: Camelback Road, which runs through some of the metro's richest neighborhoods (Biltmore and Arcadia), the eponymous mountain and Scottsdale Fashion Square.

Here is my impression of "most well-known" for various US cities (including ones I've never lived in, where I probably have a more accurate perception .

NYC: Broadway, Park Ave, 5th Ave
LA: Wilshire or Hollywood
Chicago: Michigan Ave, LSD
SF: Market, Mission, Lombard, Van Ness
Boston: This one is tough. Maybe Fenway by absolute name recognition (but not because of the street, more of a coincidence). Maybe Beacon or Newbury or Mass Ave or Washington? Mass Ave is definitely the best known in Cambridge.
DC: Pennsyvlania Ave
Baltimore: Charles St?
Detroit: Woodward
New Orleans: Bourbon St, maybe also St. Charles Ave
Memphis: Beale St
Nashville: Broadway
Philadelphia: Market, Broad
Atlanta: Peachtree

Edmonton:

Jasper Avenue - the original main street, has most of the towers on or near it. Has three LRT stations attached to it. Pretty busy.

Whyte Avenue - the main street of the merged town Strathcona. Has most of the arts and entertainment in the city, with it being connected nearby to the university on one end.

For Los Angeles, the most well known is probably Hollywood Blvd. Santa Monica Blvd, Melrose Blvd, Sunset Blvd, and Ventura Blvd are pretty well known too. Rodeo Dr is well known... but that's Beverly Hills... does that count? Our busiest street is likely Wilshire Blvd.

^ Hollywood and Hip Hop put Crenshaw on the Map too. I would say it's more known than Ventura.

Also, Wall Street for NYC.

Not sure what road you mean by Fenway for Boston that is a neighborhood or ball park not a street. Fenway Park is surrounded by Jersey St, Lansdowne St., Brookline Ave, Van Ness St., and Ipswich St. The address for the park is on Jersey St.

I think the most famous for Boston would be Commonwealth Avenue in Back Bay with the park in the center, Boylston by the Marathon finish line, or Mass. Ave.

Isn't that the street that twists and turns? That's such a unique looking street.
